Am I Old school or...

The sport evolutionize, now boxing is more about tactiks and skills. Is more art in boxing early it was lets fight until the death so we can get peanuts for a payday. Fighters in the past where more hungrier than now, and they neded to fight that way to get a good payday.

 

Beautifully put....why? I think it simply depends on the two individuals in the ring, personalities, what happened prior to the fight, what happened during the fight, and several other circumstances. I once heard a story of an adoring fan asking Duran if he could spar him in the gym because it would be an honor. Duran beat the guy silly and landed the hardest punches he could throw. Afterward, he said something along the lines of "this **** is not some kind of ****ing joke, now get the **** outta here". That's Roberto Duran. Anyway, it all depends on the circumstances. Hell, for you old school people...guys used to get pounced before they could even get all the way up from a knock down. Something you don't do BEFORE the fight? Go Zab Judah and hit your opponent low instead of touching up before he whoops your ass...classless.

 

After Bernard Hopkins dominated and humiliated Antonio Tarver over 12 rounds, he hugged him, looked in his eyes and said "hey, I love you man".

 

It's great when they go back to their hotel and butt****.

i don't really mind. imo, they can do whatever they want after the fight. it is great, though, when two fighters beat the **** out of eachother for 12 rounds and are sportsmanlike about it. it's always nice to see a hug, positive words exchanged, or whatever after a fight. especially if it's a bad blood matchup between two guys who don't like eachother/don't respect eachother. that's what boxing/fighting is all about.

 

Are you twelve years old? Have you been inside of a boxing ring? Boxing is a SPORT. That's why it outclasses UFC. Yeah we all get caught up in the heat of the moment during the fight but in the end, the big difference from the beginning, is RESPECT. You don't have to butt**** somebody to respect them. I respect any man who steps in that ring...but can't think of one I want to butt****. Let me guess....are you a UFC fan?

 

Hard to hug a guy when he's laying unconscious on the canvas.

As long as after the fight the two guys get together in the ring and acknowledge each other it's cool.
