I have a soft spot and a real liking to V.K. as a true bad-ass warrior....... As for Bowe, well, he is and was a lazy slob of a heavyweight. But in his peak year of 1992 and between 235 to 246 pounds, he was lethal for a brief moment in time..... MR.BILL
I can't see any justification for Bowe or Vitali Klitschko in the top 10. Bowe only defeted one fighter of note, and Vitali has not defeated any. Nor have either of them had longevity enough to overcome the lack of opposition. If they make it there, then guys like Rahman and Douglas and Leon Spinks should be in there too. And they shouldn't! Lewis is definitely above Foreman. I would not put Ali at #1, but a lot of people do. Even if you do, Louis at 4 seems low. I have a hard time with Johnson (we're talking about Jack right? Cause if it's Kirk, then I'm just going to back away slowly) because there so little good footage of him. You have him at 3. could be right, but it's so hard to tell. If we go by what we've heard from HIStory...where the heck is John L. Sulivan? He's truly a great. Overall, I just don't like this list.
And left hook is really all he had. Joe Frazier is as one dimensional as it gets. He had no variety of punches and one style of fighting - forward.
Goddamn.. That's a bit harsh...... Suppose you offer a list to the rest of the gang..... :hey MR.BILL NOTE! I rank V.K. in at # 7 because I feel he could beat 85% of all the ex-champs who ever laced up the gloves from 1887 to the present time being. V.K. is a massive hulk who is mechanical and robotic to a degree, however, he uses his height, reach, jab, power, good mobility for a big man and rarely loses a round against decent / good fighters....... Fact is, 95% of the pre-1960 champs do not match-up well with the hulking Klitschko.... In my book, only "Johnson and Louis" have a real shot there..... Other greats like "Jeffries, Dempsey, Baer & Marciano" would be, due to their styles, in a life and death fight of their lives against Vitali Klit in a time machine / zone.... MR.BILL:deal
Again, I do not rank fighters based on popularity or whatever charity fund they donated... NO!! I care less.... I rate a guy above another man cuz I feel he can whip some ass in the ring with the other dude.... Old farts who sniff the sack of the late great ex-champs "Dempsey & Marciano" and feel these warriors of the past who were roughly 187 to 194 pounds are gonna tear into a hulking guy like V.K. who happens to own skills and a rock solid jaw need to put away the Moonshine bottle and sober up...... MR.BILL
It looks good, but I'd switch Holyfield in Holmes position. I just think Holy had the better opposition and better wins, but Holmes was one mean sob. I'm not biased towards the oldies, but something tells me Marciano, despite his smaller size, weight, skill, etc could of have been more than competitive in any era not jut his own. His work ethic and training was legendary and I think that could of helped him to compete and even beat acouple of today's best. I view him something like a Pacquiao only a HW version, not as fast or skillful, but the power and stamina certainly were there.
1. Muhammad Ali 2. Joe Louis 3. Larry Holmes 4. George Foreman 5. Rocky Marciano 6. Lennox Lewis 7. Jack Johnson 8. Jack Dempsey 9. Joe Frazier 10. Evander Holyfield --------------------- 11. Sonny Liston 12. Ezzard Charles 13. Mike Tyson 14. Jim Jeffries 15. Gene Tunney
Of course, but H2H match-ups are not the only thing you should be basing your rankings on. It should be a factor, but not the predominant one.
Pretty good.. This is mine. #1 Muhammad Ali #2. Joe Louis #3. Larry Holmes #4. Jack Johnson #5. George Foreman #6. Lennox Lewis #7. Evander Holyfield #8. Joe Frazier #9. Sonny Liston #10. Mike Tyson
