    Why not?

Sure the opponent wasn't the best possible opponent in the world, but he broke the guy's ribs... It didn't last but 3 rounds... That's what a world class fighter is suppose to do to that level of competition. And considering what that guy was able to do to his last 2 opponents... Umm... :\

No one's saying he's Ray Robinson, but c'mon... Give the guy some credit

See, here's the thing: Nobody gives a f*ck if you're impressed or not.

I never saw where Diaz rocked Thurman and while Karass hit him with a good shot he dominated Karass after that, in the same round. Diego Chavez hit him with better shots than anybody and he came through that like a winner. He actually looked disappointed that Diaz couldn't come back out for that ass whoopin he had planned for his ass.

Since he's showing visible improvement every time, it makes sense to keep moving him slowly, but he needs some top 10 guys now. The logical next step is to fight the Khan/Collazo winner or Maidana. Positions him for a shot at Porter or Floyd and gives him some legit experience.

Unfortunately we'll never get to see Thurman vs. Provodnikov, Rios, Alvarado, Marquez, Bradley, or Pacqiuao. That's f*cked up when you think about it. He's limited to Porter, Khan, or Maidana unless Garcia and Matthysse move up soon.

It's almost like there are two really good welterweight divisions that won't fight each other.

Nope, it was purely a showcase fight. Unfortunately Diaz didn't last very long so it wasn't much of a showcase.

The sooner he faces Porter the better

Beating Diaz itself isn't a big deal anymore but stopping him in 3 when Porter 2xs and Khan couldn't do it is a nice accomplishment.

Porter is suppose to face Brook this summer and there's no reason Thurman can't be back this summer as well.

If Thurman and Porter both win their next fights then a match up between the two at the end of the year is a natural. It would also create a very credible challenger for Mayweather next May.

you don't have to be impressed, no. but as long as you see Thurman's position in the right light, then you're all good.

no one is calling Thurman out so he has to fight whoever just to get the work. the only other option is to stay out of the ring until a worthy fighter agrees to get it on with him. so that isn't really an option.

with his fight with Diaz, yes, he got the stoppage, but it wasn't by knocking him out. it came through a rib injury. so it's not the same as it was for Amir or Porter. plus, the amount of wear and tear that Diaz gained in those fights shouldn't be over-looked.

but, onwards and upwards for Thurman. he wants it, but does anybody else? we'll see.
