My view of things, is that Holyfield is a better fighter p4p, H2H I'd probably pick Lewis, comp wise it's close. I'd say Holyfield fought better comp, but he also lost more often. It's pretty close between the two but I tend to give Lewis the edge in the heavyweight category, and Holyfield a huge edge in the p4p category. And the clear use of drugs by Holyfield doesn't help his case.
Great list, but as far as Lewis goes, I'd have found away to include his rematch win against Rahman, and his win over Vitali somewhere on that list. Both are more impressive than the McCall II rematch fiasco.
Oh no doubt whatsoever. A physical prime Vitali in Lennox's swan song is probably #1 overall. Surefire top 3. Tua and badly faded Tyson would make the list as well. But I was only including 90s fights for this list :thumbsup
Holyfield said his natural walking around weight was 190. He could have made cruiser his entire career had he wanted to. He never was a natural HW. Surely in a p4p measure that has to matter in a comparison with Lewis.
Holyfield was just the better all around fighter even a slighty faded Holyfield gave LL all he could handle in the rematch ..But the first fight was a robbery
No doubt :thumbsup Holy has the better P4P career but I vehemently disagree he could have made CW his entire career.
I'm sure you know more about his career than I do. But if the cruiser weight limit is 200 pounds. That means anybody with a walk around weight of sub 210 could probably make the limit.
Important to remember the CW limit was 190 until 2003. But there's no doubt whatsoever he was blown up at HW.
Nobody forced him to bulk up to HW. So no, I don't rate him higher just because he's a natural CW. It's his own choice.
This logic is exactly why I don't care if a fighter refuses to never move up. It's a lose lose situation.
