When you're in there with a pretty-prime Barrera and your stamina, speed, timing and accuracy are gone, then you are gonna get schooled; it doesn't matter if your heart is there is there or not (although I think Hamed still had his - but he lost it the second the final bell went and he knew he had just had his ass handed to him by a superior fighter).

Nah, I think Hamed was already showing bad habits and deterioration at that point. Now, if you take the Hamed from the Steve Robinson fight, THEN it would make things much more interesting, because I think that he was at his absolute peak that night.

    Surely a windup.

The Hamed you saw in that fight was someone who was already past his prime at a relatively young age and somebody who had lost the desire for the sport and seemed to rely on his one punch knockout power to win him fights.

The Hamed of 2 or 3 years previous to that fight beats Barrera I don't care what anyone says.

His brothers did **** him up, and the Hamed that fought Robinson was a far better boxer, but that still doesn't change the fact that Barrera schooled that version of him

I'll just conjure up a couple of quotes from memory to describe that fight. Be warned they might not be word-for-word on the button, but they are basically accurate. I can't be bothered digging the tape out at this time of night:

Glen McCrory: "Oh!!! he's doing a number on Hamed in there."

Ian Darke: "Hands down, chin in the air...Hamed looks amateurish in there."

    That about sums it up.

'Hands down, chin in the air' was always Hamed's style, even since the amateurs. Dunno why Darke would point that out in the Barrera fight when Hamed had been doing it for years, kind of odd.

Anyway, Barrera DID school that version of Hamed -- I'm certainly not going to argue there. It was hard to even give Hamed a round in that fight.

I think Darke may have mentioned it because Barrera was playing the piano on Hamed's chin at that point. Although that was probably a reflex issue at this stage in Hamed's career, rather than one of sloppy technique.

    Hamed got schooled by Barrera.
    Not even close.
Dont even try to sell that one.
It would be like comparing Dog**** to Icecream.

I actually thought the scores were going to be more in favour of Barrera then they were, I saw it 117-110 Barrera.
