Calaghe tried to make it a decent scrap but didn't land one single clean punch in my eyes. And Hopkins did nothing but hold even though he managed a first round knockdown. So i was just wondering, is this one of those fights where both fighters lose? Cause even though Calzaghe won, it was certainly not impressive as the Calzaghe nuthuggers thought it would be. And to me, I thought Hopkins coulda won this fight easily if he decided to mix it up a bit more, but either way, Congrats To Joe C on his win tonight...

Nah, I thought they both won. Sure the fight was ugly at times but
was nonetheless quite entertaining. Hopkins craftiness early in the
fight and Joe's amazing speed and reflexes combined to produce an
interesting back and forth battle IMO.

I think if Hopkins opened up more, he would have got hit more. That strategy he used gives him the best chance to win, but it still didn't work.

i had the exact same thought, but overall.. you could also argue, both won: hopkins won by dictating his style and delivering a nice performance at age 43 - calzaghe won by... still winning.

I kinda agree to where they both showed their strengths but I dont think either one of them went out there and really won the fight. Hopkins was great defensively in my eyes and I didn't see Calazghe land too many flush ones, but he just wasn't aggressive enough to win. It was more like one of those, "he didn't hurt me look at my face it's not bruised I must have won" fights from Hopkins more than I went out there and took it

No i gave it to Joe on agression alone, but he did not impress...but its not easy to on Hopkins defense.

Boring as crap fight. Hopkins fault.

    Calzaghe 9-3 (with a knockdown)
    90+27-1=116
    Hopkins 3-9
    30+81=111

    Joe C 116-111

I think this will cement Hopkins as a legend, far more then Calzaghe who will be a beat hurt and questioned by this "victory"

I've only seen bits of the fight so far, but that was exactly the impression I got.

And in the interviews I thought Bernard sounded like HE KNEW HE LOST whereas Calzaghe seemed more RELIEVED to have won rather than knowing that he totally dominated like he normally does.

Joe knows that his powers are waning I think, and I'm not sure he'll fight Pavlik now.

He will go down in the hall of fame but not for this fight.....Joe won by 4 or so points and BHOP was his own worst enemy.

I agree, Calzaghe did nothing that impressed me at all. I take nothing away, he deserved the close decision due to activity, but I wouldn't have been surprised if BHop pulled it out. I just mean if Calzaghe was a 2 to 1 favorite as he was, I thought he'd impress a little more

yeah I kinda got the impression that Joe spent the first four rounds wondering why he wasn't easily dominating this old guy with a name.

I didn't think he was taking the fight serious enough going into it.

The guy probably under estimated hopkins' abilities at this point in his career, as I did.
