Am I the only one that thinks Hopkins at 43 shouldn't be looking for Calzaghe?

In a way, it's a win-win situation for him, since he can always point to his age when he loses....but I still disagree with taking a fight you have no chance to win. I can see no possible plan to victory -- all Joe really needs to win is his workrate.

I think both of them are thinking more about making a fat paycheck than anything else.

I wouldn't be so concerned about it. No way Hopkins takes this fight.

Exactly! And on top of that, Calzaghe is looking for the lopsided UD and Hopkins' resume-scalp...

I agree and I am far from a Joe C nuthugger. If Hopkins didn't throw enough punches to beat Taylor (even though I think he won both fights) I don't see how the hell he could throw enough to beat Joe.

Hopkins is a crafty sort but I wouldn't go that far. It seems prudent to, from time to time, throw a punch.

Hopkins will price himself out of this fight. He is greedy but he doesn't want a loss to this man. And he won't lose to him so long as he doesn't fight him so he won't. Hopkins is the ultimate bull**** artist. :rofl :rofl :smoke :smoke

Right now many of the Hopkins fans are picking Bernard to win, but insisting that if Calzaghe did win it would be a very significant victory that would add to Joe's legacy.
However, you can be sure that minutes after the fight is over and Joe's hand is raised in victory, the overwhelming sentiment will be that Hopkins is totally washed up, Joe's victory doesn't mean ****, a prime Bernard destroys Calzaghe, blah, blah, blah.

This is a pointless fight for Joe outside of the money it'll put in his pocket. I don't buy for one second that Bernard's age will be overlooked, and Calzaghe will be given any kind of credit for beating him.

And to make matters worse, it seems that most of the guys who are picking Hopkins to win claim it'll be due to his usual gameplan of grabbing, holding, and roughing the other guy up.
Hmmm, sounds like it'll be a great fight.

I don't think he should either, but he probably will fight Calzaghe. And at least he would be fighting the best even at 43. Personally, I'd like to see Hopkins retire.

I have been saying it for some time now, Hopkins has always been troubled by speed, and activity ie. Roy Jones, Jermaine Taylor, and even Dela hoya early in the fight, JC is all wrong for B-Hop, especially at this stage in B-Hops career, JC has very fast hands, and he appies alot of pressure and never seems to get tired on top of throwing a million punches...This is not a good match up 4 B -Hop
