Granted Diaz may not be the best opponent out there but we are talking about a guy who is tough and has always presented a challenge to whoever he has fought. It's not so much the win that impressed me but more so the fact that Manny was so superior to him. He was really head and shoulder above this guy and teed off on him at will.IMO Manny belongs in the # 1 p4p slot right now.

I think the 4 page thread titled "Manny really impressed me tonight" might indicate a no answer, not to mention a duplicate thread

Well, I'm Pinoy and an avid boxing fan. I've been impressed with him ever since the first Barrera fight in 04.

Do you think people have to start their own threads about everything to gain a sense of self importance?

you're not the only one, theres a lot of threads already and hundreds of comments:D

including myself i was very impressed. I know diaz is one big and tough fighter and you could see the difference in the physique during the weigh in, diaz had a size advantage.

i use to think that pac-hatton would be a joke no brainer but heck its funny how a lot of people are now giving him a chance against hatton. But DLH, even if pac gets successful against hatton no way i'm gonna change my mind. I still think DLH KOs him

Manny looked amazing but it was against a guy who was tailor made for the way Manny fights now.

I think this is the way Manny will be fighting from now on and has tried to fight like in his most recent fights. To prolong his shelf-life, Freddie Roach has changed Mannys style. It may not be as exciting as his all out assualt style of the past that resulted in some great wars but it will allow him to win fights more comfortably without taking as much damage. Plus Manny will throw in some moments of high octane punching to still keep the fight exciting and try to get the spectacular KO. Manny tried to fight this style of fight against MAB and JMM but was obviously less effective as these two fighters are better and trickier to hit than Diaz. I think he will follow the same path that MAB did and we will see more of a boxer-puncher Manny like MAB did from the Nasseem Hamed fight onwards.

Anyway, as limited as Diaz is Manny did dominate and that is all you can ask of someone.

Am I the only one who is bored to hell with hearing how Pacquiao walks on water when he beat a guy who he was fully expected to beat?

It does get a bit dull but i think Manny deserves credit for the manner in which he won. Yes, Diaz isn't great but Manny performed better than some thought. It was his first fight in a new weight class and he did show more boxing ability and intelligence than he normally does. Was good to see him rely more on his boxing brain instead of his natural athletic ability.

It's not the fact that Manny won that impressed me. It's how he won. He landed at will, took Diaz's best shots like they were nothing, won every mintue of every round, and just dominated in a way that you rarley see and he did this all at a new weight class.

What has impressed me is Manny's chin. It's better than I thought. He can get hit and his head will snap back but he never will appear hurt. He has a great chin. In addition to that, he is still improving in every area of his game. I think Roach and him are a good combination in that Roach is really polishing him out. Add the fire that Manny brings to the ring and you have dynamite. The difference of the Manny from before to now is that before, he only had one speed and that was with the gas pedal all the way down. now, he controls the velocity and intensity he brings into the ring. He knows when to down shift, when to decelerate and when to change gears back up and explode. He seems to have really found the comfort and control that he was missing before in the ring.

I do thinks he belongs among talk of the top p4p. I still want to see when he faces a better fighter than Diaz at lightweight. His dismantling of Diaz reminded me of similar performances put on by other elites in the past against above average competition. That performance and distruction reminded me of how Mayweather whooped Gatti and how Jones destroyed Pazienza. In all three fights the fighters landed at will with the fights ending in a devestating fashion.

I was seriously impressed, especially with Manny's right hand, and especially that right hook that he coulst miss with, Roach has definitely improved manny ten fold, technically he is miles better, his movement was also excellent in the fight, giving Diaz angles, circling Diaz to avoid getting pulled into a inside fight/rough tactics. All in all, it was a superb performance, Hatton v Pac doesnt look so ridiculous now, his speed (which was still superb at 135) will surely cause trouble for Ricky, who of late has decided to stop punches with his face instead of his gloves or defensive movement!
