Am I the only one who didn't really enjoy Floyd-Cotto?

I'm expecting to get raped for this but I found it a bit boring.

I watch Floyd fights for his straight right counter, shoulder roll and unbelivable slickness (and to a lesser extent blackness).

In the Cotto fight he didn't really show much of that and stood and traded for most of it. That didn't really excite me. There's 1000 boxers who fight with the style he used that night.

Still, it was good to see Cotto have some success.

I know...you can't please all the people all the time. Just wondering if anyone else felt the same.

I suppose I can see why some Mayweather fans wouldn't have enjoyed that. Their man wasn't having his usual success and the fight ended up being a lot closer than what most thought it would be.

But for the neutrals and Cotto fans, it more than lived up to the billing.

I agree. The fight was fairly entertaining but if you were like me and you expected Mayweather dominating then you probably would have felt some form of disappointment I suppose. It was his chance to make a statement and I was looking forward to him shining like he did against Mosley and Marquez. Unfortunately Cotto didn’t allow for that to happen. He’s got the right balance of styles to always give Mayweather problems in my opinion. An intelligent boxer puncher with a great jab.

The majority of boxing fans scored it a landslide in floyd's favour. 117-111 being to most common score. Fight was not close at all:patsch

    Good to see floyd tested.

I had it 7 rounds to 5 to floyd

But I was watching it with alot of emotion involved as a Cotto fan so would probably do with watching it with a clear head and scoring it properly

Every once in awhile thoughout his career floyd has picked a fight where he would stand a trade with a guy. I think when he does it he is out to prove a point. I think in this case he wanted to prove that he could beat a healthy non weight drained cotto at his own game.

On the flipside floyd is 35 and looking right in the face of jail time. Maybe it was a combination of not being what he was and not being focused on the fight.

Oh **** off, Gunner, you butt-sensitive, Mayweather dick-riding pansy. I ain’t got time for your **** today, because as usual, your reading comprehension is wank (not surprising, really - you are a thick *******, after all).

I said the fight was "closer than what we thought it would be", because many of us were anticipating a Mayweather domination – a comfortable 12-round win or a late stoppage. **** me, you even had Mayweather dropping him three times! But the general consensus, since the fight, has been that Mayweather beat him 9-3/8-4 (a fair few even 7-5); with nearly all of the rounds being hard-fought rounds (none of them saw him outclassing Cotto with ease). It definitely wasn’t a domination by any stretch of the imagination. Mayweather found it a lot more difficult than what he, or any of us, had imagined.

That, my stupid friend, does make the fight "closer than what we thought it would be", no matter how much your sore ass doesn’t want it to be the case.

word.. i did the same.. re watched it.. had it 9-3 for Floyd

his shoulder is way too nasty

but Cotto fought a pretty good fight.

however... i agree with you.. it wasn't ALL that entertaining.. i see a pac-may fight being much more entertaining
