Boxers at the elite level are clearly overpaid. You only deserve the multi million purses if you're bringing in the big viewing numbers. For example if you take a million off each fighters purse, stack the undercard and use the change to promote the fight - that would greatly improve the PPV numbers. Give the fighters a small percentage of the PPV revenue and ironically they would probably make more money than the original purse. It's clearly all being done backwards which is the promoters fault.

Yes, you are the only person who thinks 160,000 PPV buys is good.

    It's not good.

Lol, does p4p King Ward have any fans? The man had like 6 viewers tune into his BET fight with Brand and not to mention he's a semi shot, inactive, rusty part time boxer who everyone has forgotten about.

People were expecting Kova to sell more due to his fight with Hopkins, but we must all remember than Hopkins/Dawson only sold like 40k ppv's and it was being covered by Ripley's Believe It Or Not or some ****.

GGG/Lemmy was being promoted EVERYWHERE. I've seen more hype/promos for that fight than Pac/May, Khan/Nelo and Ward/Kova combined. It was a unification fight between 2 hard hitting MW champions with like a combined 96% KO percentage.

The fight happened and it only sold 97k to 150k. LMFAO

i was hoping for 300 and weather you think it did well or not it certainly classifies as a bomb in the eyes of promoters and basically encourages the best to duck eachother because the risk vs the reward seemingly is not worth it (financially at least)

So? It's true. He isn't a slick, black american, olympic gold medalist.

You just can't handle a fellow black american doing **** poor numbers, and a non-american from near Russia doing the same amount.

Huh? Dude I like Golovkin, and so does so many other Americans. He's one of the most popular fighters here in the states. Ward barely sells tickets. That's proof enough that this nationality-card you guys keep playing is bogus.

fights like that- they should be on regular hbo, period.

chavez-taylor was on hbo and that was a golden period for boxing (right before mma)
