TS I think you're wrong. You are not the only one, as a matter of fact, I think you are in the majority in thinking that Ortiz is a limited fighter. But because of his win against Berto, he is now suddenly viewed differently. There's really no one else out there for Floyd or Pac besides each other. For now, Ortiz is the next best option though.
If Pac signed to fight Ortiz, then he would be built up as the biggest threat in the history of boxing. But since Floyd is fighting him, he MUST be a bum. :rofl
On #april. 25th. I flew to the east coast to do work but work got extended a lot longer then I expected and I never had my laptop shipped. Now im visiting family and the laptop is coming. Just waiting. Ill be home the 29th. Two months from home. But it still blows. I miss my dad
I disagree . It is a golden boy / mayweather promotion , and is the only legitimate fight they can make within their camp, but not the best fight out their.
Given that its June and the fight is set for September , I will give you fighters I think would beat Ortiz at 147 . I am not saying a match for Floyd . 1. Cotto 2. Cintron 3. Williams Martinez at 154. The three I have mentioned would all get to 147 to fight Floyd and are all better than Ortiz. Now people may say damaged , quitters , knocked out, but that happeneds when you level of competition is as it is for those three.
Williams is the only cat on this list who I consider "better" than Ortiz as it stands today. Cotto has lost to Tony and Pac, and hasn't really looked "good" in a good while. Don't get me wrong, I consider myself a Cotto fan, but he's just not what he used to be. He's slower, hesitant, mentally shakey, and his explosiveness has left him. Again nothing against him personally I just don't believe he's even close to the fighter he was 4-5 years ago. Cintron...I mean come the **** on dude, who has Cintron beat, seriously? I mean when has Cintron done anything of any significance, when has he come through in a big fight, what would make you say this...
Cintron has actually only lost to Margarito - and we know how dodgy his history is . And then he pretty much loses to Martinez - no problems losing to probably p4p number 2. Lastly the Paul Williams fight was a farce , but did he really lose the first 3 rounds ???? Outside of that he is a big 5 11 , total puncher with the wrong promoter.
Cotto - Last Generation Cintron - Last Generation Williams - Last Generation More so than anything the reason I like this fight is its the first time in a long time that a young fighter from the current generation is getting a shot at an established fighter from the last generation. Boxing needs this. We dont need old guys fighting each other over and over again. We need the new blood to step up and establish themselves and that wont occur of the last generation is afraid to fight them.
