Am I the only one who thinks Povetkin upsets Joshua?

Yes but they mainly are vocal minority who hang off Wilder's nuts most of the time.

I'm not sure too many neutral fans are thinking Povetkin has that great of a chance.

@OP You make some great points (unusual for this forum!!)

I like Povetkin and will be rooting for him (given the drug set up with Wilder he deserves it) but I kept coming back to the Wlad fight where he was made to look like a naughty little boy getting spanked by his dad..

You are right AJ doesn't fight the same way but the blueprint is there and AJ has the ability to use it as well as Wlad did and given he changed how he fought to nullify Parker then I can seem him employing it too..

AJ's focus is on staying undefeated to fight Wilder that why he was so conservative against Parker..

In saying this Povetkin has the boxing ability and the chin (he took Price's flush right and didn't go down) so he will be dangerous but he needs to have a plan b if he can't get inside the much bigger man.

If Povetkin can get inside then we should have a cracking fight...

Povetkin for the win, yes. TKO late

Povetkin must be complete dog food if Hearns is willing to let him near AJ. Still, AJ is such a poor champion, any top 10 hw has a chance of ko’ing him.

It's possible, but would have been more likely 3-4 years ago. I think Povetkin is very close
to his due by date, maybe just past it. Seeing him get wobbled by Price ( yes I know Price
has a big punch) really makes me
think he's not to guy he used to be. And he wasn't at his best by Huck time.

He could get lucky. But probably not.

I think AJ will fight the most catious, Wlad like fight he's ever fought before and get a UD. Maybe semi competitive but cleaner than the Parker fight. I think there will be some excess clinching involved in this one.

That said, while it would be bad for boxing, it would be kinda amusing if Povetkin pulled off the upset and I definitely think he's got an underrated chance.

I have AJ as the favourite.

    A very, very slight favourite.

    This is almost a 50 / 50 proposition.

You absolutely can't write him off - though I think it'll end less competitively than the Parker fight did. I'm going AJ by KO.

I agree with most in this thread, my feeling is this is a 60/40% split with AJ as favorite. If Povetkin does win I wouldn't be amazed, he is a good solid fighter, definitely one of the best in the division. I think AJ's youth will give him the advantage on timing, and timing is everything.

Povetkin has a long history of winning fights but there's no way I'd make him a betting favorite over Joshua. If Povetkin wins it'll be because of a left hook followed by an overhand right KO not unlike what happened to Price.

I'm expecting another bore fest like the Parker fight.

Unless he's fighting Wilder, I vowed never to buy another AJ fight after that joke.

Anyone who really believes Povetkin can or will win this fight, take a note out and bet on him winning or bet with me and we'll see what happens.... I dare you!

Povetkin is good but he lacks the size to get close to Joshua. I feel AJ will tie him down in close quarters much like Wlad did and pepper him from the outside with jabs and long straight rights. Should end with a TKO for AJ around round 5-8.

I dont expect it to happen, but 10/1 on a Povetkin TKO/KO seems decent value and will be worth £20
