Am I the only one who thinks the ref ended Corrales-Castillo early?

I watched the fight for the first time maybe a few months ago and when Corrales came back and the ref stopped the fight I was like "ok, he stopped it there but he DIDN'T stop it when Corrales was down a second time in the round and looked ****ed?"

Amazing heart and comeback I won't deny, and it was a great fight. Castillo maybe could have been seriously hurt on the ropes is my only thinking.

Castillo was out of it. He didn't object to the referee stoppage. In fact, he leans forward onto the referee.

Had the fight gone on another 5-10 seconds, Corrales lands clean head shots and Castillo falls to the canvas. Having watched the fight at least a dozen times, I'm fine with it.

However, there were enough people who think like you that it warranted a rematch so you are definitely not alone.

  3. I've seen it many many times. Castillo was ****ed. The stoppage was absolutely perfect. Look at Castillo's eyes when Weeks jumps in.

My only complaint was how long the ref took with the mouth piece, Castillo had him

Legitimate beef. Chico definitely benefited from the time off.

#1 reason for the rematch right here.

Hell no, you obviously didn't see his head get knocked back, few more punches and he could've been injured for life.

Castillo was already going down and his eyes are already seeing Floyd dancing with the stars. The ref couldnt help it but to stop Corrales from giving JLC more daydreaming.

There wouldnt be a rematch if the ref let coralles beat the **** out of JLC. Great heart from JLC from withstanding that power punches from Coral tho.

I only really thought this based on the 2 knockdowns in the round. IMO the ref probably could have stopped it after Corrales second knockdown

Castillo's eyes were in the back of his head. He was clearly out on his feet. It was a perfect stoppage.

When I watched it live, I thought it was early. I can't blame the ref for stopping it when he did, though. Castillo wasn't going down and the shots weren't getting any less brutal.

Castillo would have done himself a favor if he hit the canvas instead of leaning on the ropes. I think he could have recovered and pressed for a stoppage.
