Given Pacquiao pitched a shut out against a top tier 140 pounder. I saw a lot of similarities in this fight and Mayweather's defeat of Corrales. Am I the only one who thinks that Mayweather's fight against CHICO (RIP) is a better win? Corrales went out there with the same game plan- wear out the opponent. He was met by a very game Mayweather who beat his opponent from corner to post! I was WAY more impressed with Mayweather than I was Pacquiao. Clottey just absorbed, but Chico tried putting it on mayweather and couldn't. It is the difference between COULDN'T and WOULDN'T... Mayweather shut out a more dangerous opponent more impressively, I think. What is your guys' takes?
I totally agree, but just consider that was years ago. Mayweather is not the same fighter but he is still a very dominant boxer. That's the funny thing about it.
Clottey is a top tier 147 pounder, shhhmart guy. And I don't think those two fights are even comparable. Chico was an elite opponent while Clottey was a cut under that. I don't see why you'd even compare the two if only to make Floyd Mayweather look better with a **** side-by-side comparison.
It really isn't to build up Mayweather. Personally, I am kind of losing interest in seeing the two fight. I just thought that I noticed a difference in how well played each fighter was against a similar game plan. It is duelly noted that Clottey is a 147er. But, Chico was big coming into that fight with Mayweather. Again- I am not making a case for Mayweather being better than Pac by any means- I am simply trying to draw a comparison for how they handle the same type of gameplan. We have seen them each fight the same opponents- al beit under different circumstances, and Pac did outperform Mayweather as far as fandriven results are concerned. However, we rarely draw comparisons of similar styles and how a boxer deals with that.
Hey, who won that fight between Corrales and Clottey?:huh Oh yeah, now I remember, never mind. :smoke
