De La Hoya isn't that much bigger than Mosley. They were both huge lightweights that moved up. De La Hoya didn't look that much bigger physically when they fought, and Mosley even outweighed De La Hoya on the night of the fight in 2000 when they first fight.

Mosley's jab is just not a strong point for him. Trinidad faced bigger guys like Joppy and Vargas, but you saw him effectively use his heavy jab to set up his punches. DLH faced bigger guys than him, and he used his jab effectively there as well.

Mosley's been pretty much up and down and inconsistent in his attack for awhile. He's largely become a hit-and-hold type fighter in the past few years.

His decline is part of the reason why he surpassed my expectations against Cotto. I didn't expect him to win 4 or 5 rounds. I expected Cotto to win more easily.

I guess Mosley just understimated Mayorga and did not train for this fight.

I completely agree. Loading up with his right hand and falling in. I almost shut this fight off inthe 10th round. I thought it was horrible. After watching Forbes vs Berto, honeslty these two looked ridiculous. Hugging more then Heavyweights :patsch Awful fight I thought. Mayorga has very limited skills. Just see how badly Oscar dominated Mayorga. See how easily Tito hit him cleanly, and that was a much younger and "pre-Tito" Mayorga Tito was fighting. Oscar and Tito were both able to keep their range while picking Mayorga apart. Shane almost looked as bad as him in there

He looked way too worried about getting caught with on of Mayorga's bombs. Couple of times that they actually landed Mosley was wobbled.

3yrs ago, Mayorga's wouldn't have landed and the fight would have been over within 6rds.
