Am I the only one who wishes Margarito wouldn't have taken the Pacquiao fight?

Hey man, it's old, old news. Been done over and over on these boards. If you wan't to dredge some of it up, be my guest. But there are statements from the inspectors, video clips from the actual hearing showing the knuckle pad, wrapped in gauze being removed from it's little hidey hole, and all other kinds of damning things in regards to the incident. Look it up. It's not the same as the Dempsey case.

More on the "impossible" argument, with all apologies to Dr. Cleveland Williams:

South African boxer Edward Mpofu banned for life for using plaster of paris under gloves during a bout in September

November 13, 2008 By Johnny Schulz
According to SABC (South African Broadcasting Corporation) News, former South African featherweight boxing champion Edward “Spoiler” Mpofu was handed a lifelong ban from professional boxing. It was determined that Mpofu used plaster of paris over his wraps during a fight in September with Thanduxlo Dyani in East London, South Africa. Mpofu, and his manager Eugene Khanyille were charged with bringing the name of boxing into disrepute. As result Mpofu was banned for life, and Khanylie was given a 10 year ban.

Margo is a great asset at PACs resume, and there are plenty of different paths possible:
    - if Margo was healthy Cotto would stand no chance in the rematch and that means
we would not see Floyd-Cotto, neither Floyd-Margo
    - Canelo-Margo would be a war, but probably we would see Floyd-Canelo instead Floyd-Cotto

He clearly had to take the Pacquiao fight. The money was simply irresistible....

    or

How about some old quotes regarding the case from inspectors who were actually there.........

License inspector Mike Bray was called to testify and to reiterate what was found on the hand wraps–which he said looked “moist and dirty looking.

“I immediately retrieved it. I believe it was an illegal pad–it needed to be confiscated. I observed what appeared to be a bloodstain. It was not new and their was a white substance smeared across the knuckles. It was hard to the touch–like Plaster of Paris.”- Mike Bray, License Inspector

It was stated that there was more arguing from Capetillo and Richardson in the dressing room. When Lohuis walked in he saw the tape was too far back on the wrists and told them take it off and in both English and Spanish, trying to calm them down as the wraps were removed again. Having over 25 years experience he said he’s supervised over 20,000 fights. When questioned if he still believed the hand wraps were indeed illegal he stated firmly,

“No doubt then, no doubt now. The wraps I found had the knuckle pad altered in some form. They were hard. I didn’t think twice when I pulled them out as illegal.” - Dean Lohuis, Chief Inspector

The guy got busted, did his time, and was allowed to fight again. We can speculate that he didn't know, which is a legit argument, we can also speculate that he never used them before or after, these are things we don't know.

But the facts are the facts. He got busted that night with stuff that wasn't supposed to be there. Don't go trying to change the facts.

I'm amazed at the idiots who defend Margarito. He was banned for an illegal substance in his wraps. Tomato, tomatoe, bricks, plaster. Call it what you like. Believe me, if there was any way Bob Arum could have sued for defamation or proved otherwise Bob would have. The evidence was irrefutable. Too many ESB fans think they're experts at everything. MARGARITO IS A CHEATER, PERIOD and likely for his entire boxing career.

    He said "Period":naughty

Only having a laugh mate, but stoning Margarito to death has become boring.
He's much better for a laugh now than he is for a balanced discussion, hence the reason I won't even try.
It would be nice to have a balanced discussion on some of his earlier fights, but it's impossible now without the P word now.

    And I don't mean ***** before anyone gets smart.:bbb
