Am I the only one with a nagging feeling that Cotto(e) will cause an upset?

I agree it makes little sense.

Save perhaps that Floyds relative inactivity and age might catch up with him. While "Money" is a genius he relies much on reflexes, which is the first thing to go.

In any case, I believe Cotto(e) has a better chance than he is given credit for. He was beaten to a bloody pulp twice against Pac and Margarito partly because he was dragged into a war. He might have learnt from his truamatizing mistakes and this time sticks to whatever gameplan his trainer has laid out for him.

nearly every fight that happens causes people to come out with "feelings" for the underdog. these feelings are often wrong and inaccurate.

it's come with being a boxing fan that is desperate to see some electricity in the sport and the hype surrounding an upcoming fight

Well, I don't see Cotto winning against Mayweather. He has nothing to worry Jr. He is fast but not enough. Powerful but not enough. Slick but not enough. I could go on but I think it will be very easy for Mayweather, a fantastic boxing machine with the soul of a disgusting bum. Bradley would be a tougher opponent because he can be dirty and that could disturb Mayweather.

Cotto is custom made for Mayweather. Always has been.

Anything is possible. This isn't Ortiz Mayweather is fighting so Cotto definitely has a chance. Cotto has been in there with a cheater with loaded gloves twice, Mosley, Judah, Mayorga, Foreman, Clottey, Quintana, prime undefeated Malignaggi and Pacquiao so the man has respectable experience and ability. He definitely has a shot and is fighting comfortably in his weight category, Mayweather is making a move there for the second time.

This isn't a mismatch and not close.

While many members complain about ESB, I find it noteworthy that the sweet science as well as the psychology surrounding it is covered here.

I might just suffer from an underdog syndrome here, but for whatever reason Floyd feels like a stock that has risen to far, and just has to fall. Well, we will all see soon enough.

Nonsense. If anything, Cotto's style is a difficult one for Mayweather. Cotto can counter punch and fight aggressive, not to forget that he has very good power and can box when needed. He is a boxer puncher that can get aggressive at times and can also fight defensive. Cotto's style isn't an aggressive, no defense style like you probably think it is. He can counter punch and fight defensive when needed.

Cotto is tailor made for consistent aggressive active fighters with power, like Pacquiao. That type of style spells doom for Cotto, Mayweather isn't an aggressive fighter and isn't a KO artist either.

I agree with you 100%...most of the time. But this time I think Mayweather could have screwed himself up by choosing Cotto. Ever since Mayweather chose to fight Baldomir, I figured I had Floyd's soul pretty much identified and he hasn't let me down yet. However, as a result of his machinations designed to keep him out of jail, I think Floyd let the situation get out of hand by choosing the date, and then having to go off to find a fighter once he cut a deal with the judge. And trouble is what he found.

His game plan is war, so he just got beaten by better / stylistically difficult fighters. If he is going to beat FMJ he will need to starch him and I'd be going for an early KO because Floyd doesn't get tired and isn't going down on 11 rounds of accumation. He is going down from a buzzing shot and then 15 hard shots following before he can regain composure.

Floyd will NOT lose a decision in this fight. Two reasons, he is a fine boxer who is hard to hit and the money riding on his future purses. Although I think Floyd carries a little purse to hold his lipstick and eyeliner.

I will be really, really surprised if Cotto wins 3 rounds against Mayweather.

Fair enough. Nearly all boxers end up falling at some point. I just don't see Cotto(e) as someone with the physical and stylistic capabilities to trouble Floyd let alone beat him.

The 24/7 is not gonna influence my judgement again. Floyd will win, cause he is the better fighter.

Sure. But Cotto is capable of winning anywhere from 3-5 rounds against Mayweather, because he's a better boxer than most on this site credit him as being. Personally, I'm going to split the difference that he takes 4 of the 12.

:smoke Me thinks COTTO will have PBF on aprehencive defence mode the whole fight . FLOYD fears losing but fears getting KOed even more . this tentitiveness will be the reason for FLOYDS downfall . PS his fans will claim FLOYD was at his oldest and heaviest . :yep Sound familiar .:deal
