Yep, it's a one fight deal. Not sure if TR's stable played a role but he I think he definitely undertstands that he only has a few fights left and the JMW division is devoid of marketable names that he can actually beat... Lara has no following and would kill him. Trout also has no following, is coming off a loss, and would beat him again. Neither Smith nor Molina has a following and both would give him fits. Canelo will be tied up for a while and he would probably win. 147 ,on the other hand, is full of lucrative, winnable fights... Marquez/Bradley winner Malignaggi II Mosley II Broner( if he stays at 147)
He gets beat up by JMM, and Bradley gives him hell (but I'd pick Cotto on a tough one). And Broner, it's too early to know that answer.
Why does everyone assume after 3 years that Cotto wants to, will, and even is physically able to make the WW limit?
TR certainly has a weaker crop of fighters around his division, but I think this is also a case of Showtime wanting a higher quality opponent than he was willing to take on at the moment.
Have you seen what Roach n Ariza do with Jr.????? I bet they can turn Cotto to a fly weight no problem.
