Am I the only person here who thinks Maskaev will beat Peter?

  1. Yes, crazy I may be but that's how I see it. Why? Because all I see when I look at Peter is a slightly larger Rahman but arguably slower and arguably less dextrous; I just cannot forsee Peter winning, I can't - I never rated the guy.

I might be wrong, in fact I probably am but my money's on Maskaev even with his year long lay off I just think he'll handle Peter like the man's taylor made for him - no pun intended lol.

And look at those odds!!! :rofl

    Who's with me? :deal

P.S. Anyone got any links to the the weign in they had a while back? Cheers.

P.P.S. Lol found some; Taylor made baby! Taylor made!!!

Many of us believe Maskaev will beat Peter. Me included.

After McCine damaged Peter's iron chin aura, I think Oleg will now be very confident in his own abillity to hurt Peter. And I think Oleg will beat Peter by either late TKO, or decision.

Oleg has better power than McCline, and I think Oleg has probabaly been working on his uppercut, gettign it ready for Peter's chin.

Probably not after Peters was knocked down by McCline. Maskaev is a much bigger puncher, I think he will win.

I have him as a live underdog in this fight, given the McCline debacle

I believe he can win as well. There is a month off thread here somewhere and I joined up with Maskaev by ud/tko.

My problem here is the same as it was in the Valuev-Lyakhovich fight. Or Tszyu-Hatton. Inactivity is a terrible thing to speed, accuracy, level of focus, stamina, etc.

If Oleg would've been more active, I'd easily pick a Maskaev UD even a late TKO and I've said that even before Peter had his horrible night against McCline...

I wouldn't rule out the Maskaev win now, but with injuries and a very very long break between two fights - unfortunately - I have to go with Sam. Unfortunately, because Maskaev had all the chances to win even if most people easily ruled that out.

not so sure about that. maskaevs power is overrated, which top fighter besides rahman (not even sure if rahman was a top fighter in 06) has he ko'd? ............ ??? that's right, nobody. plus he has one of the worst chins in the division.

Oleg is a skilled boxer with power & he will school the Nigerian nightmare. Looking at the size comparison here, I'm more sure than ever.

    GOOOOOOOOOooo MASKAEV!!!

I just bet $100 in vBookie on Maskaev to win.

However because of his age, injuries and inactivity I'm not completely confident. If he was a couple of years younger, didn't have back problems and fought twice last year I would be certain that Maskaev would beat the overrated Sam Peter.

I'll definitely be rooting for Oleg.

If Maskaev had had Peter within in a ring the same night McCline beat the crap out of Peter, Oleg would have knocked Peter out, no doubt about that, however, I do worry about Don King. King had cheated Oleg out of his fair purse, the fight venue was picked by Don King, which should have been up to the champion. The WBC will do just about anything Don King tells them to do. Don King has full control in Mexico, which is the reason he had the fight there. King nearly passed out when McCline beat Peter, although the damned criminal judges gave the fight to Peter. Face it, McCline should have had a 10-8 round in the second and a 10-7 round in the 3rd, giving him a five point lead, there is no way that Peter won the rest of the fight by shutout. Those scores were criminal. McCline should have known better and should have gone all out, but he did not, but still, I had McCline winning, as he should have. Do you know what the judges are planning on doing in Mexico? With the WBC? With Jose "The Bandit" Suliaman? YES, Don King's business partner? Still, Oleg should stop Peter. Peter is all hype. Whom has he fought? His best punch is behind the head and low blows, yes, bajo! Vitali will knock out the winner, he stays in great shape and was great amateur, six time world kickboxing champion, both pro and amateur, Internationl amateur champion, world military champion, etc. He would sometimes go from a kickboxing fight to a boxing fight! At that time he did not even fight for money. If McCline had not beaten Oleg to the fight, Don King would not feel he has to cheat so much, but now Don King is nervous. So he has the fight in Mexico, Jose "The Bandit" Suliaman's territory. This is the first heavyweight championship fight in boxing history. Oleg should get his fair share of the purse, which he will not. Oleg had the right to choose the fight venue, which he was not given, etc., yet, I smell a rat, perhaps a rat and a snake? Whatever, Oleg has an extremely short right hand, sneaky punch. Check it out vs. Derrick Jefferson, impressive. Oleg can do it, but can he beat the criminal element?

Criminal element? You mean the judges?

Not to worry. Peter will be horizontal.
