I've been pretty shocked that after one below par performance WK is being completely written out of the heavy weight division and I've not heard one (supposed) expert give him a hope in the rematch. After an off night, losing a points decision that over there he could have quite easily won and thats it ? Career over ? I fancy Fury being too confident in this and walking straight onto some big rights hands and it being a KO. Fury will not be as cautious boxing on the back foot, this will encourage WK to get his shots off and that will be it. I don't want that to be the case, but just have a gut feeling that there a twist in this one....
I think lots of people will pick Wlad to win. It's an intriguing fight. I think Fury needs to be AT LEAST as good as he was in thr first fight, probably better, because I expect Wlad to be improved. I won't be at all surprised if Wlad wins. BUT I have faith in the Peter Fury - Tyson Fury relationship to make sure Tyson is more than 100% of what he was on November 28th. Hoping for a stoppage win, and it is possible.
I wonder though if Tyson can get up for it as much this time, just a couple of percent drop in training could make all the difference.
Yeah, that's the big question. I think his uncle will get it in his head that it's a showcase fight, show the people what he can really do.
For me it's a 50-50 fight & that's after giving Fury little chance to win in the first fight like most people. I take your point about Wlad being written off too soon, you only have to look at that last round against Fury when he finally started to let his hands go & caused Fury problems when he did. It will be a very intriguing fight to watch.
Yeah, I think Wlad will come into the fight a little bit sharper and a little bit more aggressive, despite his age. But then at his age, maybe he wont be able to. I think Fury slowed up in round 12 and that allowed Wlad to let his hands go. I see what you mean, but the flipside is that Fury had his moments before then that he will be looking to repeat and improve upon too. It IS an intriguing match. :good I think people are wrong to assume the styles will always produce a dull fight too. For a start these are HUGE heavyweights and anything can happen. Of course, it's wise to go in expecting a dull one to avoid disappointment.
The first fight was so unbelievably bad that I didn't read much into any of it. Was obvious Tyson would box on the back foot as that is what he does. All that rubbish he came out with about needing a KO was a smokescreen. He had no intention of exposing his chin. Wlad was embarrassingly gun shy. He had Fury in range a number of times and simple refused to let his hands go. The paying public were ripped off by two blokes scared to engage. Averaging less than 12 punches landed per round BETWEEN them was disgraceful.
Nope, Klitschko can't possibly be as bad again and when it's all said and done I still believe Wlad is the superior fighter even at his age. He needs to throw more punches though or Fury will nick it again...he must realise that. But that is not a good outcome for the heavyweight division, it's much more interesting with Fury, Wilder etc at the top building up to unification fights. It's better for boxing if the Wlad era comes to an end.
Well Wlad has to make more of an effort to be aggressive if he wants to win the rematch. This however, being the smaller man for once leads him open to potentially getting a bit of lesson. Who would have thought we'd be saying that before the last fight?
Wlad didn't have an off night, he simply tried to do what he does in every fight, and against Fury it didn't work. I wouldn't be surprised if Fury took Wlad out early in the next fight.
The biggest danger for Fury is that he may have lost the requisite determination since becoming champion. He's already said he won't ever top what he's already achieved. Not the kind of words you want to hear when you're a fan of a fighter. If Fury turns up in peak condition, fully motivated, I think he'll win. But that's a sizeable if.
Wlad has been declining for years and will be over 40 next time he fights. It is not that Fury is so good it is people think wlad is done. He has looked done for a while and it just needed one live body to get his belt. Plus he really struggled with fury's size. Without the jab and grab wlad was show up for the 39 year old athlete he is.
