I'm 16 years old, live in Ireland and weigh 64kg. I have a strong martial arts background with 10 years experience in aikido and limited experience in various other martial arts. I have also swam at national level (I still swim once a week for an hour) and I maintain a very high level of fitness going for at least three 5k runs a week and working out in my own home gym approximately 5 days a week for 2 hours. So would I be capable of becoming a decent boxer.

Oh man.....16? Yeah, that's a little too old. Most accomplished boxers start at 6 or 7.

Some of the guys who start later and excel, are...shall we say...enhanced. Using black market techniques and tools like Rock Jaw, wall-sits...but that's a slippery slope my friend.....not for everyone.

No don't start boxing. Try collecting stamps or raise garden.

It's sad how many users that join this forum don't have the ***** to just go after something, instead they need reassurance off anonymous people on the Internet.

Here's a tip... just ****ing do it.

I'm not looking for reassurance I'm looking for advice, which is always valuable...if you had read what I had written with my question I think you would realise I have no problem with going after what I want.

That's looking for reassurance, not advice.

TBH, I was kind of surprised by the question after reading your accomplishments. But what I said still stands. Nobody can answer your question.

Boxing is a mans sport. Lot's of people start at 18+ and have excellent pro careers. Especially with amateur boxing getting more and more similar to the pros 16 is a great age to start. I started at 16.

You history only tells us you have commitment to a discipline sport thats very good, your fittness will not be needed if your wanting to learn boxing, for the first 6-12 months depending on abilaty will be learning the basic's,,,,How to stance, guard, deffence, offence, block & parry, knowing how to us the equipment etc
You will enjoy the sport a lot more if you practice the basics to learn the trade.
