Am I wrong to not drink the Usyk Kool-Aid?

Usyks speed, footwork, ring IQ and especially his stamina are otherworldly

 

See, now, that's a fair post. While I think Usyk would school Wilder, one thing Wilder has is a huge and explosive punch and Usyk has never been hit by a guy that throws as hard as Wilder.

 

And so 'confident' of this opinion, you've not been back to this thread to defend it....

 

The CW Division is one of the best in the sport.

Usyk is a top tier talent.

Anyone blind or biased to those facts need help..

 

This is a good point ... but on the plus side against Wilder:

Usyk probably won't ... blow his chance by testing positive (Povetkin)
Usyk probably won't ... allow Wilder to avoid him (Joshua) (Usyk would fight him in his local sports bar in Alabama)
Usyk probably won't ... take a bit of a rest if he had Wilder hurt (Ortiz)
Usyk probably won't ... come in out of shape after a long layoff (Fury)
Usyk probably won't ... for some reason leave himself wide open early on (Breazale) (Usyk is usually super cautious early)
Usyk probably won't ... lose concentration in later rounds (Szpilka)
Usyk probably won't ... take a dive (Scott)

 

You clearly haven't seen the Breidis fight

 

Usyk is good, but as usual on this forum, clowns and muppets overrate his abilities and his resume.

Same with Fury.

People just assume, and speculate he would walk over this guy and that guy, before he has even shown that he can.

 

I think Oakland has a secret admiration for Usyk and the CW division, but is one of those guys that likes to stir the hornet's nest to get people to vociferously rebuke him in order to engage their passions.

It's difficult to really criticise Usyk on any level, besides claiming his fans overrate his chances in the HW division. On resume, comportment and skills he's hard to beat.

 

Yes, the HW division presents its own set of challenges that can't confidently be predicted for any fighter coming up from a lower division, even one as good as Usyk. While I'd feel confident in him beating a Breazeale or Joyce, the more mobile and harder hitting opponents could cause him some problems that he hasn't seen as of yet.

We'll see once he gets there.

 

I don't think I've ever seen Usyk hit by a really hard, clean punch. Which is both a plus and a minus against him. He seems to have a decent chin though, and good recovery abilities. Those that land on him tend to do so with short, well timed punches that catch him coming in, not big, leaping telegraphed right hands, so unless Wilder lands another of those Szpilka type shots I don't see him hurting Usyk badly at any stage of the fight.

 

Nah Usyk will be just fine IF Wilder lands.

There's plenty of Uysk clips on YouTube and I don't think any have been mysteriously removed either....
