How is the new setup doing? I like their ideas and back to basics approach that amateur boxing should be all about, not the convoluted and 'ivory tower' approach of England Boxing. I hope it works out for them. Also is anyone from Boxing News on here? If so how come there is never any coverage of the Alliance in the Vested Interests section? p.s. for those that are not aware, the Alliance split from EB in 2016 and brought the majority of London clubs with them including some big names like Finchley and Fitzroy Lodge. Hence why it's baffling that more light hasn't been shone on this.
Don't know how this Boxing Alliance is getting on but I think it will end the same way as the Scottish Boxing Federation did in Scotland years ago, the break away clubs could only match between each other and meant that you were fighting the same lads show after show. Also the biggest thing will be the fact that the boxers no matter how good can't get International experience ie the international tournaments can't have 2 x English representatives and would most likely not acknowledge that they are an amateur association anyway.
I think at a more novice / intermediate level it's working well with plenty of shows and lots of boxers to match against. I'm not sure about the elite level though. With the turmoil at AIBA I wonder if it will have an effect on England Boxing to make it much more transparent and above the grass roots clubs that really keep the whole sport going. From speaking to those involved in clubs it seems that EB/AIBA are almost disdainful of the grassroots level and take them for granted. Hopefully this comes to a resolution as there shouldn't be a fragmentation of amateur boxing in the UK though EB needs a massive boot up the ass to get back in line.
