all those guys had extensive careers where they fought everybody and learned on the job and it is usually only latinos that do that cause they are allowed to go pro very young and they need money

its not out of choice most of the time

If you look at that he only had 6 fights, with the one loss being a split decision. He obviously never had much of a desire to do anything in the pro game, I wouldn't exactly call that a failure.

Look at every top pro and 99 times out of 100 they had an excellent amateur career. People sound like idiots with the talk that the pros and amateurs are completely different. They're both boxing, with top amateurs usually fighting better comp than top pros are.
What's harder to win, a pro title or an olympic gold? Pretty obvious.

Jerry Page won gold in '84, but the pros after a disappointing 11-4 record.

Come to think of it.. Henry Tillman, also gold '84 (as was Biggs) didnt do so well either.
Might have something to do with the fact that the '84 Olympics were weak due to the
boycott by the eastern block countries and Cuba.

Mark Breland maybe? Although he was still a very good pro, people were anticipating another Sugar Ray.....
