That probably could have helped him in the actual Olympics as none of those guys had boxed him before so they had no idea of his style

The man still became a world champion, also he rarely fought in international tournaments so that also would mean he faced lesser comppetion . The only major tournament he entered was the 2000 Olympics and he was stopped by Gaidarbek Gaidarbekov at that

Jirov, Whitaker, Chakhkiev won Gold at the Olympics.

How come people (including guys on HBO, boxing media etc) never give credit for winning the World Championships which are just as hard, arguably harder, to win as the Olympics. Lomachenko, Rigo, Korobov won 2 Gold at Worlds, Solid won 3 in addition to his Olympic Gold, Golovkin and Tszyu won Worlds and its always ignored.

You had some decent points in this thread until you said this, at which time you stamped "Ignorant" across your forehead.

Plenty of dominant amateurs never went on to accomplish anything as a pro. The opposite of that is lesser so, but nonetheless true...

I can't include world championship achievements as it's not as revered as Olympic medals. I think that's because they were not around until 1974 , meaning greats like Ali could not compete.
