Solis fought heavier than that in the ams, in addition to that weight. It disgusts me thinking about what he could've been.

 

Being only 6' 1'' its safe to say the man wouldn't have done much even if he was in shape. To be successful at that height in the current heavyweight division you need to have James Toney type level of skill, something Solis lacked.

 

He had a long wingspan and tons of skill. Basically, he had a Liston like build if he were in top shape, which is good enough.

If a Polish hooligan can look in danger of outpointing Wilder I'm sure a prime Solis could. The man had serious skills. Unfortunately he just didn't have the desire to match his ability.

 

A long wingspan don't mean much when you're jabbing up. To be successful at that height you need james Toney level type of boxing. and defense.

A very good tall fighter will in most cases beat a little great fighter.

Solis was a very good amateur, but as a pro, I don't see what you guys see in terms of skills and overall talent.

 

Solis is a great example that some people do worse when exposed to freedom. They do better under a semi-dicatorship. He worked hard and trained well under communism Cuban control. Once he was set free, his demons took over and he became a fat sack of s***.

 

Solis is not cut out for the pros despite the natural talents.

Im not even a fan of Wilder but im sure that he would beats solis' sorry ass.

 

Most people idea of freedom (in general, wither restriction is moral or economic) is to be Happy aka enjoy alcohol, drugs, debauchery, showing off materialistic possessions, religious euphoria, taste bud pleasing & belly comforting, that is what 99% of the primate population wants.

Solis represents the extreme case of peasant went bad, the act of treason he committed against the Govt that trained him to be an elite boxer (regardless of how horrible his Govt is, they still own his boxing skills), makes him a disloyal person that can't be trusted, a class of proven traitors which includes boxers who wait out contracts :nono
