Just saw this on the internet. Shame the guy was one of the greatest amateur boxers in my opinion. I remember his fight against Frankie Gavin well

According to Russian news RIA – On Friday, February 11, two-time Olympic boxing champion Alexey Tishchenko and his Russian coach Leonid Kiselev, will be holding a press conference to announce the retirement and end of Tishchenko’s boxing career.
Tishchenko who is considered to be pound for pound one of best amateur boxers in the world has not been training while battling with issues related to the cervical vertebrae.

****ing shame. sounds hurt about it aswell. 'done with boxing' sounds a bit bitter.

lomachenko - tishenko was a real possibility for 2012,

what is the extent of his injury? anyone know?
