I have picked a few amateur prospects and have been correct as to their success in the pro transition but have been wrong as well. I thought Nick Wells and Willie Dewitt were better suited for the pro's but I think their training and management was the reason they did not succeed. Who have you picked right and wrong and who do you like from the amateurs or young pro's now

Dewitt? I felt he was too small and didn't hit hard enough.

The guy who likely fooled most was Howard Davis. Davis won gold in 1976, ad also won the Most Outstanding Boxer of the Games. He was right up there with Sugar Ray Leonard.

Davis failed to win a championship. He wasn't a flop, but I think everyone expected more.

I also was very impressed with Davis in the amateurs, I felt his father did not help him grow in the pro ranks. I felt he may have been one of the best picks in the amateurs close to Leonard but did not have the same pro development.

By the way Mendoza what is going on with Mahommedrasul Majidov who beat Anthony Joshua? Is he turning pro?

Howard didn't have the pro style, nor the right people around him, to succeed, unfortunately.

Kind of an opposite here of a popular guy I did not buy into..Anthony Hembrick. So many people bought into the guy as the next Mike Spinks.

I sure never thought so. but he got off to a good pro start and had a big following. then maybe one of the alltime best USA cable tuesday fights saw him get Dusted by Word. what a devastating loss and really blew out a ton of candles with the folks backing him. They changed opinions overnight on the guy about like the Ruddock followers did after that Lewis blowout.

But that Hembrick just never showed all the tools in the ring everyone was glowing about and was annoited as pretty much a can't miss guy. But the division was a little too strong for him to survive in. You have to wonder if Hembrick was on the scene today if he'd be top dog in that division and maybe his career is a lot different.
