I just read an interview where Alex Ramos mentioned that he'd beaten Mike McCallum, Tony Ayala, Juan Roldan (ko1), Duane Thomas, and other future pro champions in the amateurs. What other boxers had amateur wins over multiple opponents who went on to become pro champions? Matt Korobov may have the most impressive list of amateur wins in recent years (Kovalev, Usyk, Jacobs, etc.).
Does anyone have John Scully’s contact info? He could definitely tell us who beat who in the amateurs.
Felix Savon beat Shannon Briggs, Lamon Brewster, Timur Ibragimov, Ruslan Chagaev, Michael Bentt (He also beat many other notable pro HWs like David Tua, Kirk Johnson, Andrew Golota, Odlanier Solis, Luan Krasniqi and many others)
Howard Davis Jr beat both Hilmer Kenty and Aaron Pryor, in addition to Thomas Hearns, on his way to the 1976 Olympic gold medal.
Mike Tyson had two losses to Henry Tillman. Tyson also dropped down a weight class in the amateurs to avoid Tyrell Biggs. As a pro Tyson completely crushed them both. "Tyson admits he probably couldn't have handled Biggs in 1984. Tyson lost in the Olympic Trials to eventual 201-pound gold medalist Henry Tillman, and Biggs went on to win the Olympic super heavyweight championship." http://articles.latimes.com/1987-10-11/sports/sp-13577_1_youngest-heavyweight-champion Marvis Frazier as an amateur had a win over Tim Witherspoon.
