Im a Pacman fan but can remain subjective and admit FLoyd is an exceptional fighter (though a disgusting human being). He still challenges himself regularly against top opposition. On the other hand GGG continues to fight some substandard opposition and his status grows.

I think there is some racial hypocrisy involved.

Personality and in-ring-style have a lot to do with it as well.

But yes. Hypocrites about. Many of them.

People say Curtis Stevens (yeah, the L Brinkley and KO1 Roman guy) is a great win over a ranked contender which helps Golovkins' P4P top 10 claims yet try to say that Mayweather is a coward for ever fighting Robert Guerrero or Victor Ortiz (each much better and proven than Stevens ever has shown to be).

Pretty simple answer if you think about it. GGG is a relative novice to the US audience, his first fight in the US was just two years ago. Mayweather has been a world champion for 16 years. GGG doesn't have the following and doesn't attract the money to justify the risk for top guys to fight him, whilst everyone who fights Floyd gets a the biggest check of their career.

If Golovkin still fighting the same standard of opposition in 3-5 years, whilst being hyped to the moon, then your argument may stand. At the moment, you just can't compare his situation to Floyd's.

Guerrero and Maidana are not top tier opposition, they are on par with Geale,Stevens etc..

Canelo is only worldclass opponent in Floyd last 4fights,and it's tainted little bit because of the CW.

    Golovkin is being MASSIVELY avoided.

Floyd MAKES FIGHTS with RG, Ortiz etc. Huge difference...

One (GGG) would happily fight the best. The other (FMJ) avoids the best.

GGG could literally sign to fight you next and you will still find ******s here defending it.

Free pass? WTF - he's constantly being criticised for the quality of his opposition, despite having fought the best available MW at any given opportunity.

As has been mentioned not only is he a relative newbie to the US scene, he also doesn't command the kinda paydays which have other fighters queuing up to fight him like FMJ.

Furthermore in guys like Macklin and Geale, even Rubio, he is fighting some of the best the division has to offer. Unfortunately MW is relatively lacking marquee names being overshadowed by the stellar names in the divisions below and above (Floyd and Manny, Ward and Froch) - nonetheless this doesn't mean that the division as a whole is somehow full of substandard fighters.

GGG's competition or lack there of is and isn't his fault, as for Mayweather if he isn't fighting the best fighters who is?
