He really impressed me in this footage.... vs McGowan, another great performance : [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7vK1LnIXns[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2Vaim9k5As[/ame] by rayrobinson308, he is the man !!
YES!!!!!!!!!! I've ALWAYS wanted to see this fight!! Thank YOU!!!! :good One of the best fighters in any weight class to never win a world title. He reminds me somewhat of Michael Carbajal, and was probably at least as good.
And the Pimentel fight was good. Medel could punch off the ropes really well, luring his man in before attacking with two fists of pure dynamite. Inconsistent maybe, but top class fighter and puncher, who fought in one of the great era's for the weight and has some quality wins.
I think you can add at least Harada1 and Harada 2 which I thought was very close. I've often wondered about his record against what you might call lesser profile fighters. I think that even though he was a top fighter he still had a bit of a journeyman approach until he was fighting the very best. I think that it also shows the depth of talent in the bantam division at the time. er
I seen the Jofe/Medel live. It was one hell of a fight. Medel was a very, very good fighter in his prime. In this day and age he would've won a number of titles.
At the very least his resume matches Barrera and Morales. He had a scratchy start and fought on well past his used by date, but he wasn't too inconsistent during his best days.
Kiki, Did you ever see jimmy McDaniels fight out of Los Angeles ? He was a tough welterweight, who I saw flatten a young sensational puncher Aaron Perry of Washington, D.C.,at MSG in 1944. McDaniels ruined Perry with body punches...Well a few months later my dad took me to MSG, where tough McDaniels fought a fairly good New York sensation Ray Robinson, Who let Jimmy use his body punches in the first round and in the second round Robinson unleashed the greatest flurry of devastating punches that kod McDaniels in mid-air. We in the MSG were in awe of Sugar Ray's vicious attack. The referee by the way was Benny Leonard...Did you ever hear of Jimmy McDaniels. ? He fought out of the Olympic Audiutorium...
