Again, get in the ring, shove your head in your opponents face, wave it back and forth or worse, literally jump up and billy goat your opponent as Armstrong did in one instance, and tell me the ref wont call you on it. Get real. You can rest your head on your opponents shoulder, you CANT rest your head on your opponents face. LOL. Anyone who would argue that doesnt know **** about boxing.

"SEEM" low?? Jesus Christ. Armstrong actually acknowledges it early on. His first landed punch of the fight was a low blow. The last sequence has him literally landing three low blows hard on Ambers while Ambers arms are down. The first punch in the sequence you can see Armstrongs glove between Ambers legs FROM BEHIND AMBERS. Every single punch makes Ambers trunks jump up and the ref immediately jumps in and admonishes Armstrong. Those punches only "seem" low?? For ****s sakes.

Arthur Donovan reffed fights for over 22 years. He had been a pro fighter facing some of the biggest names in the sport at the time. He had reffed several of Armstrongs fights including his title winning efforts against Sarron and Ross (in which Donovan had the widest score in favor of Armstrong) and refd a ton of Louis' fights. He continued to ref fights for a decade after this fight including Armstrongs two losses to Zivic, the first of which Donovan was one of two officials that had Armstrong even going into the final round. He remained New York's premier ref for years after this fight and after the controversy surrounding the Zivic-Bummy Davis in which Davis fouled so bad that the fight was stopped on a DQ despite the rules because it simply couldnt continue with Davis' blatant fouling Donovan was called in to ref the rematch. Incidentally the ref who DQ'd Davis was Billy Cavanaugh the same ref who worked the Armstrong-Ambers 1 fight and took several rounds from Armstrong in that fight as well. So the idea that this was some kind of biased, or crooked, or racist hit job on Armstrong is horse****.

I called it on page one that this guy would try to ruin my thread, but it’s a free country, so he can do as he pleases (even though he’d rather believe it wasn’t so he could continue crying). Great info from Klompton, as always, though.

Anybody wanna put their two cents in on positive aspects of the action?

On the positive side its an incredible fight. The underrated Ambers simply wont bow to the relentless pressure of Armstrong. Both guys gave and received heavy leather with Armstrong's patented left hook to the body/overhand right combo a thing of beauty.
