America needs a Shift in mentality to dominate the heavyweight scene once again

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by m8te, Oct 2, 2010.

  1. I think we will see a heavyweight champion in the not to distant future. Klitschko 1 and 2 wont be around forever and I predict that Wlad will be embarrassed and brutally crushed when he losses the championship and is retired probably by a guy who will be a lot shorter and a huge underdog.

Of course I can. It takes a special mentality to endter a sport in which participants have been brain damged and killed on a fairly routine basis, and Americans just don't have that kind of mentailty anymore. It has nothing to do with basketball or football- every basketball player and almost every football player who ahd ever entered the sport has embarrassed himself.

Many (outside of the US) think that the US only dominates those sports because they are relatively small sports in most other countries!

Soccer is by far the worlds biggest sport and ALL the boys in 95% of the worlds countries play soccer from small, through school etc. If they can make it there they will.

Then there is Badminton, Table tennis (huge in Asia), Handball (huge in most of Europe), Cricket and Aussie Rules (huge in Oceania etc.) and so on.

Baseball?.. noone outside of the US plays Baseball at all.

American Football??? ... noone plays American Football either.

Basketball is the only one of them where they are some countries that play it at a reasonable level, but still it is far down the list. For example, Spain has a Basket league... but noone in Spain really cares about Basketball and Soccer is 99.99% of the press.. with basketball perhaps 0.0000001% coverage at best.

I like both the NFL and the NBA. With that said, I think you jumped the gun there because when those athletes retire, the majority of them are frustrated and broke after a while. :deal

I really don't see many men's netball and rounders players being Heavyweight Champion of the World material.

I dont hate them, never said that. I just wish they fought with a little more killer instinct. manny steward says it all the time. the heavyweight division is built for exciting, dramatic knockouts, and I wish the top two guys in the sport would produce them more often

im talking about considering boxing before ever considering those other sports, and rearing oneself in the sport of boxing, not playing bball or football and then entering boxing. of course they would embarrass themselves at a high level.

Like jingoistic only refers to what you think of american foreign policy :patsch I don't know why I bother with ******s.

Huh, yes it has. You act like USA is the only country that has other sports apart from boxing in which athletes can participate. Well, other countries have other sports too, you see.

I act like that? how? i'm only referring to my country's mentality. the other ones, like those in the former soviet union, have it. i'm speculating as to how my country can regain it. you're accusing me of being some super patriotic chauvinist but in reality i'm not being that at all. you're using the term jingoistic for no reason at all too...just another personality employing nothing but overkill over the internet. you aren't impressive, and you calling me a ****** is really ruining my week:|
