see i read this board alot. and it seems alot ..not all.. seem to laugh at the british fighters that come up. calzaghe came up judged for "cherry picking" and beat kessler and hopkins(who is by far not past it.) hatton. lost to PBF who has schooled many out there, khan sure has a chin that isnt amazing. but he kids got talent. we have a few coming up like haye/fury. with fury we will have to see for abit. but the ones that get hyped abit do actually go far.
look in the past with eubanks/benn/nassem/lewis.

if you want to say we hype to much. we only hype who we feel are prospects. its like if they not fighting in america then its not worth it.

    your thoughts?

Calzaghe spent most of his career fighting bums and nobodies in his own backyard. For someone so highly regarded his resume is poor-poor, and it doesn't take an American to realize that.

I don't see any big difference between the British and American posters, there are some great posters and some total ****ing ******s from both nations on ESB.

I think we tend to hype fighters cause we have a smaller population and a far smaller talent pool, so when we get someone who even has a slight chance of sucees we get behind them in droves. If we had dozens of prospects (and boxing were more popular) then fans would be more spread, instead we just all lump behind one person.

Thats how I see it at least.

Conversely, i think its in our nature to have a bit of a nation vs nation rivalry, it adds that extra element at the very least. It's not like we're innocent though, we/others never seem to let the US off the hook for not having any decent HW's right now.

Yep. "Defending British fighters from criticism" often turns into "shitting on American fighters" in the process.

You have to separate the wheat from the chaff.

    And your post doesn't.

    **** British fighters..:bbb

Joking...I look at fighters for what they do in the ring, not where they come from...Although I do have a soft spot for my Puerto Rican fighters, I try to remain objective when analyzing them...:thumbsup

Tyson fury uppercutted(or should that be uppercut?) himself, hes out. Boxings new Bob Sapp

khan still fights like an amateur, pity that barrera farce has fooled so many people, he still beat a blind midget with nothing but punch volume and size advantage...nothing i havnt seen before, he is still to show me his "talent" in the boxing ring, plus his instincts and ring generalship are what hes lacking most(never mind the chin), oh and he cant fight on the inside...what good is that? We will FINALLY see when he fights Kotelnik exactly what he has to offer

Hatton deserves to be where hes at

Calzagh deserves to be where hes at

an Irishmans opinion of your british heroes...

Calzaghe was a legit fighter no matter what anyone says.

My problem is with all of the Glass Jawed British fighters that are hyped and then brutally KOed.

You'll always get people who criticise fighters no matter how good they are.

Look at Calzaghe's record he beat good fighters, former world champs, unified his division retired undeafeted but beat only 1 legitimate ATG. He's got a great record but it's not up there with the ATGs pretty simple no need to slate the guy all the time as some people do.
