I think Dirrell has the best chance to win the first fight.

I suspect he doesn't take the best punch and knows it, as Dirrell didn't want any part of what Stevens is packing...and in addition to being a bit scarier than Stevens, something tells me Froch won't be quite as patient and accommodating.

Ward's handspeed and movement are secondary considerations, IMO - despite them having equal height and reach on paper, Kessler will almost certainly fight "taller", controlling the ring, the pace, and distance and timing Ward at his leisure. It's somewhat to do with experience, but mainly Kessler is just the more disciplined fighter (if not more skilled).

In Taylor vs. Abraham I think you've hit the nail on the head. Taylor fades late, while Abraham comes on at around the same time. I think Taylor will probably spank Abraham early, but it won't be enough (unless he's accurate, brave and busy enough to score a stoppage on a cut-from-a-punch) and by the late rounds he'll be wriggling in the spider's web.

regarding Ward-Kessler ... just looking at potential advantages Ward might have. you know how much trouble Calzaghe gave Kessler with movement + handspeed. then again very doubtful Ward can fight like that

but just saying, Andre's speed and athleticism could help and give Kessler troubles, but again tough fight to call plus i don't know how well Ward can take a punch.

the Taylor-Abraham fight is going to be a fun one. these guys probably shoulda meet some time back at Middleweight. now here's the fight. Abe has a tight D so I wouldn't rule Taylor gassing out.

bumping you over to booradley's thread man .. rank the Super 6

At this point, I would have to favor Kessler, Taylor & Froch.

Dirrell, Abraham & Ward are really stepping up in opposition. Even a guy like Abraham has never been in fights with guys close to being that talented ! I truly think Abraham will disappoint many...

    1-2
    Froch TKO Dirrell
    Kessler MD Ward
    Taylor UD Abraham

IMO Abraham is there for the taking in this tourney, he hasnt looked to clever recently and is now moving up in weight and class!
JTs stamina is suspect but I saw AA looking a bit gassed and taking rests in some rounds against the very average Lujuan Simon.
I'm convinced JT can take this one but the possibility of a generous decision for AA on german soil is a worry

Watching Taylor/Abraham is going to be a nerve racking experience. I'm a big JT fan. If we end up seeing a Pavlik/Taylor III, I'll root for KP, but other than that Jermain is my man! I fully expect him to look better than ever in the early going, but I do not think he can stop AA. The longer the fight wears on, the more nervous I'll get.:yikes

    Agreed bout that one.

I'm not sleeping on Ward either.I like him a lot.

Don't think much if Dirrell though.

I think/hope JT can be the darkhorse in this tourney and if Froch goes out ill be rooting for him.
I think people are too quick to critisize him for his loses to KP and Froch, even though he came very close to winning 2 of those 3 fights.
Also I noticed he was dignified in defeat against Froch even though the manner in which he lost after dominating the first half of the fight he could of been forgiven for being very bitter.

I think the 1st round winners will be:
    -Abraham beats taylor
    -Dirrell beats froch
    -Ward beats Kessler

If Taylor comes in sharp and hungry he can beat em all even Kessler.

Based on styles he is a missmatch for Abraham he actually outboxed Froch when he run out of gas and was floored by Froch and he also has the tools to beat Kessler.

Dirrell could also win over Froch he has reach advantage and brings the tools to the table you need to beat Froch (accurate handspeed) he also is a switch hitter and and can fight well as a lefty and as a righty. However Froch is the more experienced and the fight is in Nottingham Froch is an relentless pressure fighter and i think he will win by a late round stoppage.

Ward can also win against Kessler i have friends that consider Kessler as an typical overprotected european fighter with an blown up record but i think Kessler is a great boxer which is gifted with talent but he is at his beast when fighting strait against a boxer who fights strait as well. He had big problems with Calzaghe and Ward has a similar style.

Dirrell will beat Froch easily. Dirrell is stronger, faster, the much superior boxer, and his style which unlike Taylor and Pascal doesnt conform to what Froch likes to do. Which is counter punch and set up right hands with the jab. Dirrell likes to circle the ring, punching on the move, this will frustrate Froch.

Ward should beat Kessler aswell. Kessler hasnt fought a legit opponent in something like 2 years. The last time he did, he was outclassed. Wards versatility should give him the W.

Abraham vs Taylor is sketchy. Taylor jaws been cracked twice now, if he can stay busy, he might have a chance.
