Taylor/Abraham is the only fight that is anywhere near 50/50. Kessler and Froch should be heavy favorites.

In my opinion, Taylor/Abraham is also the only make 'em or break 'em fight. If JT loses, I think he is done as a major player in the sport. If AA loses, he got beat by a guy who lost 3 of his last 4 including losses to Pavlik and Froch. That would pretty much confirm the common opinion that he is not world class

I realize each man was guaranteed 3 fights, but it's easy to imagine the loser of Taylor/Abraham dropping out.

 

I see this differently than most on here I suppose.

I have ward and kessler a very close fight that definitely goes to the cards and is a 1-2 point win either way. Ward will win some rounds, bank on that. I am thinking 7-5 Ward or the same score for Kessler.

Dirrell will likely get stopped by Froch. If Froch boxes like he did against JT he will lose though. I think he will be more aggressive and stop Dirrell.

I see Abraham stopping JT. JT is a very good boxer who gets weaker as the fight goes on. Abraham has less boxing skill, but he isnt lacking in skill he just doesnt use all of his ability early. Abraham gets stronger later in the fight, this is bad news for JT and he gets stopped around rd 9 by TKO.

 

Well...I'm not sold on Kessler like 99 percent of ESB is so...the American boxers have a good shot at sweeping the first round. I like Taylor over Abraham. I could see Ward outboxing Kessler. I don't know about Dirrell...

 

Kessler wins vs. Ward, thats quite sure IMO.
Froch wins vs. Dirrel
Only AA vs. JT is a toss up.

So I think 3-0 or 2-1 Europe after round 1

 

It's hardly a common opinion. It may be your opinion and you have something of a point though I think you overstate it, but his position in the tournament betting shows that, if anything, common opinion rates him higher than his record probably justifies.

 

Should make this a team event like the Ryder Cup.

Mainly because if it was like the Ryder Cup that would involve the Americans completely bottling it every time :happy

They unsportingly picked good players and injured the Ryder Cup Bottler-In-Chief Tiger Woods. Most unfair :-(

 

The idea that AA is not world class is one common opinion. It is certainly not the only opinion, but it is fairly common. It's mostly only people who have seen him fight who feel that way.

 

AA vacated his belt knowing he was going to step up his competition to SMW, without a warm up fight at the newer weight. Maybe if he is not world class like you claim, the guy has courage when he could have easily kept a belt at MW considering Arum and Sauerland and how they probably would NEVER make the fight into reality.
Do you consider Ward and Direll world class and if not, who do you think from the US could have replaced them?

 

I actually like the tourney just the way it is. There are a lot of questions that will get answered. That means plenty of drama. Ward and Dirrell might live up to the hype. Taylor could make a stunning come back. Froch might prove he is more than a one hit wonder. Abraham might go 3-0 in the opening fights. And if that mother****ler does that, I'll be pissed, but I'll be forced to jump on the band wagon and beat the drum with you assholes:yep

In addition, we'll most likely have this other thing going on with Bute/Andrade/Pavlik/Stieglitz at the same time. That means the end of the tourney is really only "the end of the beginng."
