honestly i think the main arguement is that they don't fight in the states. i think its a tad hypocritial as you don't see to many US fighters coming to the UK.

My main agruement to that is that America is the Mecca of boxing. All the greats have boxed in America and all British fighters know if you want to be really big you have to fight in the states

The MGM Grand, Staples Centre, Madison Square Garden. These are the places which have graced the greatest boxers of all time. I dont think any American should have to fight in Europe

Especially in Germany where if you knockout your opponent you might end up with a draw! If you're lucky!

That point is totally invalid. Its not fighting in the States itself that is so important. Its the higher quality of fighters over there and the money that brings.

If Calzaghe fought RJJ and B-Hop earlier on he would have got respect if it was in Las Vegas, Cardiff, London or Berlin.

Hatton fought Tszyu in the UK but that fight gets more credit than beating Colazzo or Castillo in the US.

I you have a football star outside of Europe, were does he go to play if he wants to play the best??? On the flipside you dont see elite basketball players from the states going to play in Italy, or Israel.

While europe has made a move with a couple of truely elite top level fighters there still isnt many, and as such you dont get the high level comp.

I don't think anyone gives hatton more credit for those fights than Tysuzu. i ceertainly dont.

The fights should take place whereever the most amount of money can be generated. Most of the top up and coming american fights cannot sell tickets.

Thats the point. Its not about fighting in the US. Hatton stepped up and fought Tszyu. It didnt matter where. It mattered that he fought him and stepped out of the Warren comfort zone.

Who cares what American fans think?

They can't even be bothered to get off their arses and go and support their own fighters.

I don't agree mate. If the World Champion is from Europe or somewhere else, and it makes financial sense, then the challenger should go to their country. Doesn't matter if they are American.

    This is spot on! :good

Warren is a smart business man. He never allowed his fighters to take even small risks which is why none of them have ever fought a PRIME ATG fighter is the prime careers.
For those who expect a superstar like Jones, Mayweather, or BHOP to come to bum-fuk Wales for a major championship fight, KEEP DREAMING. Neither went and all have their legacies much more secure than Joe Calslappy, the man who ducked everyone until they got old.
LOL, even Jones with him being KOed several times still has a better record and secure place in HOF, and ATG way ABOVE Joe Calzaghe.
That's because RJJ, Hopkins, and Toney took real chances in their careers while Calzaghe took none.

Calzaghe owes his whole career to Warren. Had it not been for Warren sheltering his sissy fighters, they would have been KOed long ago. :yep

If you want to make the most money in boxing, you have to make a name for yourself in the U.S. It's a big risk though. Many foreign fighters can make good money by staying in their hometowns. If they come to America, they may have to spend a good amount of time building themselves up. It's worth it though if it works. Look at Pacquiao. When he first came over here, no one knew who the hell he was. He struggled to get someone to even promote him. Muhammed took a chance on him and now he's the second biggest earner in the sport. You're simply not going to make $20+ mill a fight if you don't make your mark in America. Making it big in America is also the best way to grow your name globally as well.

I agree with what the TS is saying regarding Warren. However, the fighter needs to shoulder some of the blame as well.

I would call it irritation as opposed to frustration in regards to British fighters. The frustration comes from the loyal, and monumentally stubborn fans.....lol.

I disagree with the idea that they need or would need to fight in the US. As long as they are taking on the best competition, it matters not from where they hail or where they fight, although you do go to AMerica to get the best comp generally, and you do need the American fans to get into the highest stratosphere of earning. Although, I would lend credence to the idea that fighters like to be in a comfort zone as opposed to being on the road..... but that can be said for any fighter. It's only if they refuse to leave that zone that it becomes a problem.
