American glass hearts: Riddick Bowe

    Todays American Glass Heart award goes to Riddick Bowe. As we all know Riddick Bowe is your typicalglass-hearted american, after stepping in the ring with Lennox Lewis back in 1988 in Seoul and taking a beating, he wanted no part of Lennox ever again. Instead he disgraced himself and ths sport by dumping his title in the bin rather than fight Lennox, even though he claimed to be a boxer....he refused to box (like so many glass heart americans today) and instead ran away to fight lesser oppoents. If you wish to discuss this glass hearted american feel free to do so, while he has a great record and some good wins...he refused to fight the best, if only this cowardly lion had taken a trip to see the wizard of oz maybe he could have been given a real heart.

    Bowe had a good enough heart, although Holyfield was not a huge puncher and was a small guy. Had he fought Lennox his heart would have been tested. I love how Bowe beat Gonzales.

    I think bowe would have given lennox hell though, that ***** move is what he is remembered for nowadays.

    Bowe had tons of heart, his wars with Evander are proof of that. Also the beating he took from Golota especially in the second fight was astonishing. Based on the Golota performances he would probably die in the ring before ever quitting.

    You can accuse Bowe of many things like being undisciplined and not having the balls to force his handlers to make the Lewis fight, but a lack of heart is not one of them.

    Bowe was scared of Lennox, can't really blame him. Lennox would have bludgeoned him something fierce, I tell you what.

    He had no heart, just look at how he came into the ring, a total and utter fat ****, he was scared of running a few laps, or doing pushups, let alone getting in the ring with Lennox Lewis! Infact didnt he quit the marines after one week?

    Typical American Glass heart! *cue Blondie music*

    And Evander Holyfield was a former Cruiserweight, even with a Glass heart Bowe would have done well to have chickened out of that one! Evander bailing out on a $49.99 ppv is another Glass heart disgrace!

    I'm gonna look forward to this series, we need a vid, with Blondie music, Victor Ortiz, ODLH, Don Curry, James Toney, Holyfield, Tyson in his last fight, Bruce Seldon, all quitting, Only in America!

    because of the size difference bowe was quite happy to fight and indeed go to war with holyfield ,but i think the defeat to lewis in the olymoics did stay at the back of his mind. where lewis is concerned bowe did have a glass heart , most fighters would want to reverse a loss and i would imagine a loss in an olympic bout in front of the world would be a pride issue . but not for bowe :think
