American glass hearts: Riddick Bowe

Bowe can be accurately accused of many things like;

-Be lazy
-Be unmotivated
-Hating to train
-Loving to eat Mamma's home cooking that was bad for him psyshically.

One cannot however with any seriousness label Bowe as heartless. In the midst of battle, Bowe has always given his all. Getting hi to train and make the match was due to his laziness, not a lack of heart. All this thread proves yet again is that this new round of semi-boxing fans know very little about the sweet-science.

On the contrary Lewis had just as much to blame for the fight not coming off.
It was obviously a question of finance, Lewis rejecting an offer from the Bowe camp citing that it was too low and taking a "title" fight with Tucker instead.

Notice ^ how Maloney notices that Bowe was reluctant to dumping the belt?
Lewis was willing to take the $3 million. Maloney was not.
Neuman was playing hard ball. Bowe was not.

I did a thread awhile back regarding which fighter gained the most mileage from a fight not happening among the top of the list it seems as though the sentiment is that Lennox Lewis has been given the presumed win over Bowe when in fact he would have been the underdog in 1993.

I think Lennox despite his amateur background was still unpolished as a fighter and under the tutelage of Emmanual Stewart he progressed to a fighter who would simply be too good for Bowe.

But if the fight took place in 1993, when it was initially proposed I'm confident of a Bowe victory.

Besides the amateurs don't really mean all that much. After all Tyrell Biggs beat Lennox Lewis and made him look silly in the process.

Bowe let himself down by not fighting Lewis, but he fought Holyfield x3 and Golota x2.
