Lol, yeah. He also fought Mercado in Mercado's hometown and got a draw there too. How can people use two bad performances of a fighter well past their prime as examples of them not having heart? Hopkins' heart and skills is what had him beat many people in and out of his prime. Hell his fight with Pascal was pretty fun to look at even though he was damn near 46! I really think most people just hate him based on what he says, not his overall fights. The Johnson, Joppy, Mercado, and Echols fights were pretty good and people would know that if they toke the time to watch him mostly when he was younger not when he's an old ****in man. I'm sure a shot Morales has no heart either in his overall career too just because he quit.*sigh*

Many people on this forum are morons. People also forget that Mayweather used to use his offense more when he was younger.

They`d rather plat baseball or basketball or that sissy American football where they have to wear a ton of protective equipment in case they get a little bruise.

Anyone who thinks the warrior mentality is the same today, as it was 20+ years ago in American fighters, is absolutely deluded. When you ask an American to name a 'warrior', they'll mention guys like Williams, Bradley and so on. Sure, they're good, entertaining fighters but warriors? I think the difference between them and past fighters is huge. Go back a few years and in one division, the light heavyweights, you can find more American warriors than there are today in the entire sport. Guys like Matthew Saad Muhammad, Dwight Qawi, Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, Marvin Johnson and so on. These guys were warriors and you just don't get that same mentality today.

The American mentality has changed a lot in this regard. Look at Argentinian's, Colombian's, Mexican's, British, Canadian's and so on. These fighters haven't changed. They might not be as good or whatever, but the actual heart is still there. There hasn't been a decine, whereas in American boxing, there clearly has been.

    Glen Johnson
    Chris Arreola
    Jason Gavern
    Tommy Morrison

Not to mention, everyone in the UFC.

Obviously, a bunch of American pussies. :patsch

    Are you serious?

Johnson is Jamaican, Arreola is a fat ****ing slob who cried, I don't even know who Jason Gavern is and Tommy Morrison? We're on a boxing site, so the UFC is irrelevant.

If you're joking, which I think you might be, I apologize.

I'm not talking about Floyd's antics OUT of the ring...they annoy me as much as they annoy anyone else. My point is that once he's IN the ring, I think he fights with heart when he has to. He is usually so good that he doesn't need to mix it up with people - he has the ring IQ to pick his opponent apart and then move in when it's time for the kill.

I can understand people's complaints about Dawson and Dirrell, but it all comes down to what you appreciate. Some people like to see a big buffoon walk forward all night and take 500 punches to the face "because he has heart," whereas I don't hold it against a boxer if he's smart enough to control his opponent all night with the jab, good footwork and good defense.

They'll never cease, Philla. For all of their yammering about UK superiority this and that, they cannot resist resorting back to invoking American fighters one way or the other. See Bailey.

I didn't notice any heart defects in PBF when he dismantled Hatton, did you??

These ****ing American-obsessed Limeys have to yank on something because they can scarcely offer one of their own who possesses more talent than Ward.
