What is going on with American boxers? The biggest boxing nation in the world and they only have 6 world title holders! I think the only logical reason is the now well-known, modern day phenomenon of the American Glass Heart.

    Evidence:

Andre Dirrell - Questionable reaction to admittedly illegal punch from Arthur. Chickened out of the fight with Ward, allegedly on the advice of the mysterious Dr Shaw....High. Glass Heart :-(

Devon Alexander - Blatantly quit against Bradley. Had no interest in continuing and cried to the Doc to get the fight stopped. Glass Heart :-(

Kermit Cintron - this may be a controvertial choice in one aspect. Of course, we all know he was born in Puerto Rico. However, PR is as close to being part of the USA as you can get. Cintron has spent a large part of his life in the USA, and this has clearly had a major effect on the nature of the most important organ in his body. When literally he dived head-first out of the ring to avoid fighting Paul Williams, he showed that his heart was made of 100% American Glass. :-(

Nate Campbell - Similar to Devon Alexander. Couldnt get the fight with Bradley stopped quick enough. Glass Heart :-(

Victor Ortiz - Quit when the fight with Maidana got tough. Fair play to him, at least he was man enough to admit it. Glass Heart :-(

You're right. Having a glass heart is even worse than having a glass chin. You can do something about a glass heart, but there's no way to fix a glass jaw.

They've definitely gone soft. You look at the old days guys like Marciano who brutalized poor old Don Cockell in the fifties,he even kneed him in the groin at one point. They've now turned into a nation of pussies, who bleat on about dirty tactics. They're definitely lacking now in the ticker department.

Its possible that living so close could lead to infection, causing the heart to spontaneously shatter
