I think Jason Estrada is a very talented boxer who is better from a skills standpoint than a lot of the current crop. I saw him about a year ago against journyman Zack Page. My only problem with him, is that I think he's a bit small and posseses very little power. I don't think he can hurt too many big men out there. I would like to see how he does against Whitaker though.

Actually, my comment was not supposed to be nationalistic, as I suspect you know. The question was which American heavyweights do we have hope for, and my appraisal is they are all ****, and therefore I've no hope for any of them

Iceland is hardly a hotbed of boxing talent, infact people have barely heard of it as it happens

I'm fascinated to hear of your families origins. I've lived here for about 2 months, on a work placement. I'm British.

there is an american heavy i like at the moment.

athletic /big/fast hands/decent power and i have mentioned him on esb before.

i think he is 6-0 at the moment
saw him on an undercard when he blew out a
    journeyman

his name just will not pop into my head at the moment.

chazz witherspoon , way/way over inflated record.

IMO not a top 50 fighter and never will be.

NOT HIS FAULT , SOME BOXERS HAVE IT SOME DO NOT .
WITHERSPOON DOES NOT AND I DO NOT SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO TO IMPROVE HIM.
    sorry for the caps.

of course team witherspoon know it as well which is why the matchmaking is so cautious.

tye fields can be walked through and ko`d
which is why his opposition is mid western journeymen as well.

Kasim Howard perchance? He looks like he has some good tools, and he's built like a beast, but obviously he hasn't faced anyone good enough to even evaluate properly.

I think Arreola can get to perennial contender level, maybe even win a belt if the circumstances are right. Kevin Johnson also could fight for a title or two under the right circumstances, but he'll have problems due to lack of power. Same boat as Eddie Chambers. Not a fan of the other current pros. Chazz Witherspoon has been improving, but I still don't think he's good enough to be more than a journeyman. Joey Abell is really slow, and just happened to match against a guy with major stamina problems that hadn't been exposed previously. Fields would pose problems for most fighters due to his style (big size, high workrate, very good stamina), but I'm afraid he would actually beat few of them. I'm sure Top Rank will eventually set him up with one big-ish money fight, and then he'll disappear.

Someone already mentioned Michael Hunter. He's probably the best bet at this point. Still young, good bloodlines (dad was a LHW contender IIRC) and should go pro after the Olympics.

    good call.

99% sure that was his name.

big /athletic looking black american heavy

agreed way /way to early to hype him, just he looks the part to me , albeit against men who will fall over when he farts at the moment.

better than anything i have seen recently from an american perspective.

Hunter is still qualifying I think, but he should make it to the Olympics.

I agree and view Johnson as the best American HW prospect, albeit that isn't saying much. He has similar assets and weakness as Chambers, but I think Johnson is a little more determined than Eddie.

But he needs to step it up. He fought his first 8-rounder in 2004, yet his most recent bout (12/07) was an 8-rounder, and he fought a 6-rounder before that.

I've heard good things about Hunter. Looking forward to seeing him.

Johnson is the only one of these with any potential and i don't see him progressing past fringe contender.Arreola is obviously the most promising American prospect and he is ready to step up now so we won't have long to wait to see if he is for real

Iceland has a population of a mere 300,000 people you fool. Your comment was meaningless and clearly uneducated. The way things are going now, I woulden't be surprised if Iceland DID start producing better HW prospects! This despite the US's whopping 300 million people. And lets see... icelands dozen or so boxing gyms... maybe.

hehe and guess what? They have a better living standard then the US too! They have better health care, pensions, education.... and lol they are partly socialist too!

Face it.. the US is turning into a **** hole. Your country has a growing sociecomic gap. Its full of fat lazy poor slobs, the very rich minority, and the poorly educated like yourself.

looks like your boxing is going the same way as your country.
