American networks 'protecting' their fighters

  1. Hey guys,

Listen I'm not making this thread to bash but I am making this thread because all this euro bum talk then seeing a thread on Kessler/Bute/Taylor just infuriated me.....Kessler pushed aside for Bute...and the excuse given is money!?!?!? That's insane!

Ok so as I say we get alot of "Euro Bums", "Stay @ Home Joe" remarks etc but then Every big risk euro fighter we want to see taylor fight the USA networks shoot down - "Money is the reason!" First Froch now Kessler....we're always told its money yet we all know for a fact Kessler or Froch would still bring in megabucks, particuarly when the revenue would be jointly brought into the matchup by either the UK fans (Froch) or Danish fans (Kessler) along with the USA network(s)

    Lets put this into perspective:

Lacy vs Taylor = USA vs USA = same primary souce of income = USA + general worldwide fans = 1 primary USA network fronting the majority of the cash = x amount of cash for boxers.

Taylor vs Froch/Kessler = USA vs UK/Denmark = 2 sources of primary income = USA + worldwide general fans + large numbers of Danish or UK fans = 2 primary networks fronting the cash USA + UK/Denmark's national boxing network = (same or more!) x amount of cash for boxers.

Euro Bum gets thrown around alot & call it the conspiracy theorist in me but I see Taylor as being massively protected & it rings hypocrisy for for. He is being constantly protected and it's starting to **** me off - he's holding a division hostage solely on his long past triumphs over Hopkins. If this is how he's going to play out at SMW he can **** off I say!
This is why I've recently warmed to Chad he's a man who know's what he wants and is clearly fighting for a legacy whether he gets it or not.

  3. Ok that response was pretty much perfect I can't argue with that as much as it does annoy me as a fan ;) Well, except to say American fans should stop claiming Euro's are bums if their own networks are unwilling to pair their fighters with ours it's like a self fulfilling prophecy.

To say Taylor has been protected is a bit harsh, I mean look at his resume in recent times. He fought Hopkins twice, Pavlik twice and Winky Wright. The guy guy is willing to step in the ring with anyone. He's fighting at a new weight so deserves time to find his feet and become comfortable at the weight before fighting the major players in the division.

the risk/reward for fighting kessler is poor.

keesler is the toughest fight for any super mid out there.

first of all FROCH will not make JACK **** for TAYLOR or HBO...get him out of the conversation til he is even on tv or wins a meaningful fight...I would like to see taylor kessler or taylor bute...either one...how is JT being protected by fighting BHOP twice, wink, pavlik twice and lacy....cuz he hasn't faced a euro...big deal,,,those same euros haven't beaten any americans

I don't even know why people are talking about this Froch fool, he can't even be mentioned in the same breath as Taylor and Kessler until he actually beats a live body. Froch isn't even huge in the UK yet let alone america. Taylor got bigger fish to fry. What has Froch done? Even if he beats Pascal big deal Pascal is hardly a Marquee name that would shoot Froch to instant internatinal superstardome. Froch needs to do something to actually EARN a big fight instead of just talking about how he deserves them for doing absolutely nothing and beating absolutely no one of any meaning. I'm doubtful he'll beat Pascal who's even more of a nobody than he is.

Who is there in the SMW division who would be a more deserving opponent for Taylor?

Kessler and Bute, and then that's it.

Honestly despite having a bad night on a fight he was winning, I think bute is better then Kessler, Taylor and Froch ..
If taylor fights Bute, he's going to catch a serious ass whippin !!!

Taylor has been protected. That's why he "won" in the first fight against Bernard. HBO wanted to develop a new young star so he got about 3 or 4 gift decisions, then he flopped.

If Kessler gets ahold of any of these other current or former paper champions like Mundine, Bute, and Taylor, he will destroy them.

Hey, Sarah! Taylor v. Bute makes more money than Taylor v. Kessler or Taylor v. Froch. Bute is European too...he was born in Romania. He also happens to be a Top 3 SMW any way you look at it...so I guess you don't have much of an argument. HBO wouldn't be protecting Taylor if he went to Montreal to fight Bute at all.

And you forget the main thing......

Bute is a big draw in Canada... that country above the US... which meanis if a fight does take place in the states (MSG), the likelihood of Buite fans coming to the states in flocks is much bigger than Kessler or Calzaghe fans comin all the way from wherever they are to see him... Hatton fans are the exception....

Froch built himself up in the standings, but his name isnt familiar... I heard of him before I heard of Dennis Inkin and now, i feel that they're like equal which is bad... He hasn't done enough to go out and try and make himself a big draw... He has punching power, and power sells... oh well...

but Bute/Taylor at MSG or Montreal would do numbers...

I think Kessler needs to fight like a mandatory or somebody decent in the states first to get some srt of an idea.... Anybody who brings in 30+ in his own home and has a good style should be able to bring in some people in the US...
