I have to admit I didn't like Lewis early in his career but respected him more in the latter part of career. Lewis was a great fighter and a MAN!
What's it matter he was still born in England which makes him English. Hope you're not claiming he's American now lol!
Not at all. Look, if you want to swing from the nuts of a guy who hasn't lived in your country for 33 years, won a gold medal for another country, and has no desire to live or return there, feel free. Claim him all you want, but you have to admit, it's a stretch.
Yeah, as if Lewis was British? Those dumb Brits!atsch This content is protected Uploaded with ImageShack.us What on earth would give them that idea? Perhaps it was his nickname "The Lion"? Taken from the English crest. Perhaps it was because the flag he wore on his shorts? Perhaps it was the fact he was born and grew up in England? How dare the British claim him as their own!!! atsch *****.
You dont have to remind me. Lewis is a great fighter but as far as him representing britain thats just bull****.He never cared for the british fans, more a launch pad for his career. El terrible, do you know which country lennox was born in ?
What Brits do you constantly need toremind of this fact in your day to day life ? Do you hunt them down or do they knock at your door ? I would say of all the British boxing fans I know, 100% of them know that he fought for Canada when he won olympic gold P.S. England don't participate in the olympics Great Britain do Silly post,
lewis proved himself over a long peroid, he was a dominate heavy fighter and mixed it up with a lot of good opponents too, hard to say much bad about him really
:deal But to claim him as a British fighter is lame. Of British descent, okay. But I don't consider him a British fighter. No home over there. Very few fights over there. Chooses to fight for Canada in the Olympics. Chooses to live in Miami with his Asian wife and two kids. I see no British connection other than the accent and him posing for that gay ass tea picture. Oh well, if I were a fighter and I was born in Germany, my black ass would claim them too come PPV time. More buys!
lol He was a top fighter, better than Hatton and Calzaghe. Tended be too cautious, which made a lot of his fights kind of dull.
Top 1 Jamacian/British/Canadian fighter of all time on topic: He is definitely within the top 15 hw of all time range, it would of been intersting to see him fight another top fighter who was also in their primes as well. As for the ducking thing, he did vacate his IBF belt rather than face Byrd. His reason was that Byrd wasnt a draw. Make of that what you will
