I tend to avoid the general, so I never saw that thread, not that I could've added anything, since I've never been to Newcastle, but Jennifer Hawkins is from there, so it can't be too bad.

Hate to be the one to break it to you, but Newcastle is not exactly Australia's most exciting hotspot. Primate & Jen Hawkins notwithstanding of course.

It was in the lounge I learnt very early on to steer well clear of the general. I was more looking for advice and that about living in oz. What to expect and that, how easy will it be to find somewhere showing this fight as i'll actually probably be in Bathurst seeing family then and can't miss this event.
:lol: I've been told many times already don't worry. I'm looking forward to it I grew up in London and go to uni in Leeds so the change of pace should be cool. Plus it won't be too challenging academically I'm hoping so I'll have plenty of time to train and earn some money to travel in the summer break. Also I've got so much family in Sydney that I barely know that I'd rather live somewhere else rather than run the risk of unknowingly banging a cousin.

Just as well you aren't going to Tasmania then

Tassie is down south mate. Small island. Small population, and the problems that go with that scenario are fairly self explanatory

It will probably be about as big as Cotto versus Margarito number 2.

Anderson Silva is very popular in the United States. If he has a game opponent, he can draw 600-800k ppv buys. I am going to guess that this will do about 600k.

That would be a good number.

I don't really give a **** how big it is. Personally, I couldn't be more excited. I haven't been this excited for a fight in a while.

I think it will do more than the first fight, and that was around 600,000 wasn't it?

I saw a commercial for it during the NBA draft on ESPN. So I think they will be getting attention.

The Intellectual vs The Cave Man

What is it that excites you about this match-up?

I love the clash of styles, but it is a bit more than that.

Anderson comes across as the smart fighter. Sonnen is the brute.

Anderson appears to appreciate the artistry of this sport. Sonnen just appears to be interested in the money and the struggle.

I do appreciate Sonnen's competitive nature. That is one of his redeeming qualities.

For me, I'm excited about this fight for a few reasons.

    1. I Like both fighters

    2. Probably one of Anderson Silva's biggest fights. His performance in this fight will determine where he ranks on the ATG list in many people's opinion. If he loses badly, this fight will always be brought up against him. There is also a lot on the line for Anderson, considering how popular he is in Brazil and how badly Sonnen has been trashing the country.

    3. I have no idea what is going to happen. Kind of like the first Cain versus JDS fight. Will Sonnen pull a repeat performance? Was Anderson Silva's rib injury legit and he'll do much better this fight? I am hoping that the fight is competitive.

I hope it does. 750k to 800k would be a great number. If it does like 500k, I'll be :| because this should be one of the biggest mma fights of the year.
