American prospects records??? After just reading a thread about shawn porter claiming he had 290 amateur bouts (there's others claiming more but I just read about porter) i just wanted to see what people thought about this or if they could enlighten me on the subject. I Recently read a piece in the boxing news magazine regarding the number of amatuer bouts a lot of these American prosepcts are claiming! Aiba states boxers can't compete until 11 years of age! So let's say for this example he turned pro at 21, that means he could have been competing for ten years as an amateur, which means he would have to average at 29 bouts per season to have the 290 bouts being claimed. Now Tom stalker the number 1 lighweight in the gb squad competed in the abas, the worlds, the commonwealths, the Europeans and the gb tournaments with maybe a few other internationals ( a busy season to say the least) I think he ended up with 21 bouts. so porter would have had to have a much busier season than this EVERY season without taking into account time out for injury etc! I found this an interesting point of view which I hadn't thought about before, so thought I'd put it up and see what people thought. Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
