Joe 36 in his prime. Hopkins 43 way past his prime. If Bernard still had his reflexes what happend in the first round happens three or four more times. And yes he was in his prime! A younger version did not have the experience to beat Roy or Hopkins that's why he ran from both of them until they were old. Joe just like all of the other Euro fighters are open to hard counters. He was too slow to make him pay. I believe Hop was at his best when he fought Hoya and Trinidad. A prime Bhop beats any European fighter in the same era. Besides Hopkins and Calzaghe fight nothing alike. I think Pavlik would have giving him lots of trouble.
I get it the NFL is boring to 95% of Europe I feel the same way about futbol but to each his own. How do you feel about the NBA? And my bad for calling you a *** we can disagree without that.
he didnt even fight at his natural weight!!! Hopkins ducked Calzaghe for years. And Hopkins is the same fighter he's always been, slow and methodical. His wins over Tarver & Pavlik are the best of his career...I say that because in the general opinion of morons they dont recognise how good a victory he scored over Trinidad
basketball I actually do like, its fast paced and exciting so I can watch it. Baseball I also hate. but ye basketball is actually ok. I find it amazing, however, that America never win it in the olympics!!!!
i do aswell. some even more than english fighters. im just saying theres alot of unnessecary critisism of froch. u agree on that
Sauerland arranged the tournament. Abraham and Kessler are both Sauerland fighters. The American with the best chance to get the job done against both guys was NOT INVITED to participate in the sauerland six. Gee, I wonder why.
Considering the two best SMWs from this side of the pond aren't even in the tournament, I'm not sure that's a fair statement. And Dirrell was far from "exposed" against Froch. Most thought that Dirrell won that fight. All it "exposed" was that he doesn't like contact and will fight ugly to try to win, but we already knew that after the Stevens fight. I suppose when Ward loses to Kessler he'll have been "exposed" as well, even though Ward has no business beating Kessler.
this is a great case of double standards. the amount of posters on here who say that Castillo deserved the nod against Mayweather cos of his aggression, and have now turned around and said Froch looked ****???? Froch chase Dirrel down, caught him a few times, and bloodied him up. Dirrel ran. The irony is Dirrel was at his best when they stood and traded, but if he'd have done that over the full match he would've got tagged in the end.
Froch does lack technique but that would be my complaint about him but I could also say Dirrell lacks that killer. However I like Froch because he can make for exciting fights. It's just to much hate from both sides actually and we should all just be enjoying all the fighters that make up the sport we all obviously love.
who do you rate as the toip 2 american SMW's??? and its the manner of defeat, Dirrel came out saying he'd fight Froch and beat him and all that trash he came out with, in the end he just ran all night. If Ward loses to Kessler by KO in round 1 he will have been exposed yes, if its a gruelling war and he dont get the nod, then its down to personal opinion.
