sounds like someone is alittle Jealous :rofl

As far as us thinking the whole world gives a damn about the NBA well you explain why the number of players from outside the States that apply for the NBA draft grow two fold every year. And why its played in every county in Europe.

these big athletes maybe be big and agile, but it doesnt mean they're sure shot good boxers...maybe its time to accept the fact that they just cant produce some good heavyweights and just wait when till they find one.

It is a growing sport. We realize Soccer (Futbol) is the top sport in the world. Our teams have been improving in that regard as well. Our women's team is actually quite good.

The NFL however is considered boring from what the Americans I have known who lived abroad tell me.

This isn't the point really. Its that there is no place in the country to learn boxing now.

There are 24 Pee Wee football teams in my city. One boxing gym, which no one knows about lol. So you are seeing most of our athletes going to these sports. Most would not be good in boxing, but the talent pool is dwindling because they have no where to go to learn even if interested. BTW, no there are 3 MMA gyms here.

this is pointless, cuz you guys just dont get it. YOU CANT FIND WHAT ISNT THERE. if the kids that have the size to become REAL heavyweights not like Byrd, toney and Jones who were all middleweights, dont turn up to the gym then you cant have a heayweight champ. The kids that show up at an early age is that kid that is too small to have a furture in one of the main line sports here. Thus were still rule the roost when it comes to fighters under heavyweight.

Of course you're right. Leverage on punches, chin, all kinds of things have to be figured out.

But if you took 75 guys in the 6-3 to 6-7 range from the NFL and the NBA, don't you think the odds are pretty good that a handful of them could start at age 23 and surpass the level of Calvin Brock?

That's all we're asking for here.

Also, something to keep in mind: I watched Roy Jones play basketball in his 20s against professional players, and he was merely a good athlete. Not very good, and certainly not great. And that's not factoring in his lack of skills. Jones obviously had great fighting reflexes, but people like Allen Iverson and Nate Robinson (he oozes boxing potential) might, too.

Our women are good at Soccer because 15 to 20 years ago only women played soccer in the states. You would have been lucky to find one league for boys when I was a kid and I grow up in L.A.

Very true. Those are popping up around the country, and high school soccer is growing in the states.

the correlation is easy to do.

basketball/american football/even baseball , /it is virtually a pre requisit to be big, so undoubtably there are lost potential boxers.

but there are so few proffesional eastern european heavies in the world ,just 50 approx in number that america should still compete and will compete in the future.

to my knowledge, there are way fewer gyms/coaches/oppurtunities for a east european heavy than there are in america , and there is definatley no promoter or scouting system to snatch them up.

look at boxing bills and there will be about 10 every week in america compared to say 10 a year in ukraine or russia

they are basically left to there own devices and the only way they would get spotted very early on would be through amatuer success.

and for every amatuer champion the world over that goes onto success, there are 10 pro`s who did **** all as amatuers that rise to the top as well.

i looked yesterday and there are currently 504 american heavyweights currently active

it would be hard to find out but it would be intresting to see a comparison with the number of american heavyweights active in 1950/1960/1970/1980/1990/ to get some kind of comparison to the actual effect american football/basketball/PPV tv / is having on the take up rate in america.

But we can say the same for other countries right? Have you considered the fact that perhaps the reason why there isnt any boxing gyms is because nobody's enrolling? These athletes may have the potential, problem is they're probably not interested.

That was the point. They aren't interested because there is no exposure. The Boxing is only on PPV and cable.

Right, it would be interesting to see the difference. But the fact remains that the BEST crop of big athletes are being snatched up by other sports that offer scholarships and guarenteed money. How many eastern guys get offered guarenteed millions of dollars to go into another sport?

In America your annoying aunt Ruth pinches your cheek.

In Eastern Europe your annoying aunt Olga throws left hooks to your cheek.

    True Story.
