Its more than that imo, the US is the place for you to earn big money if you excel in a particular sport. My guess is that more would prefer trying their luck on sports that are less dangerous for them, while earning the same if not more than they'll do in boxing.

My guess is professional football is not less dangerous lol.

People break bones, get paralyzed, have their lives shortened, have horrible medical problems etc.

 

99 out of a hundred people would rather get tackled then punched in the face.

to my knowlwdge did little at senior amatuer level although dimetrenko and boystov were good juniors.

i just think americans have to be patient, eventually the number of heavyweights america still produces will turn up a gem.

in the uk for example we always have about 30 proffesional heavyweights at any one time which is more than russia or ukraine has ever had in its history .

 

Most Americans don't give a rat's behind what the world thinks about the NFL or the NBA, and the gap between them is enormous in the US. The NBA does not deserve to mentioned in the same breath with the NFL as a popular American sport.
And don't judge the interest in this question by the comments on this board. 99+ % of Americans don't even know the names Klitschko, Maskaev, or Chagaev and could care less who the heavyweight champion is. For every thousand kids who knows who Dale Earnhardt was, perhaps 1 knows who Wlad Klitschko is. By the way, I think Klitschko and the other Eastern Europeans are rather popular with the dwindling number of American boxing fans.
Boxing is all but dead in the US.

Well the guys you just named off aren't really better than American HW's. They are actually competitive with those guys. McCline, Chambers, Thompson....

We will see. There does need to be more exposure though IMO.

Yes, you always worry about getting injured playing football. It happens often. Very often. Torn ligaments, broken bones, etc. Why is this even a question. Boxers think about getting hurt as well. Both sports are dangerous.

If anything, I think Rugby is more dangerous than both.
