dismantle? pavlik? UH i think joe will win a Spilt decision but Kp will make it close honestly as a die hard joe fan i ywouldn't be surprised to see JOe gow down only to get up in that fight. you have to remeber KP is 26 ,27 joe is 36. Kelly also has sound fundamentals.

This will go the distance no arguments,Calzaghe's chin is too good for him to get caught,he's been knocked down yeh,but never wobbled.
Calzaghe by wide wide decision, but i'm sure your judges will make it close:roll: .

You lot must of seen his last fight against winky,he was ****,and imo winky shaded that,it was only your dodgy judges that gave bhop the big margin.

Also i think it's a bit sad bhop cant win by fighting, instead trying to break his hands,or fight dirty, cant he win by his pure boxing skills???

    The answer is no.

His age is irrelevant. He has been a pro for 8 years and has 33 fights under his belt. Either you are ready to face the best at that time or you never will be. Calzaghe fought Chris Eubank in his 23rd fight after being a pro for 4 years.

Ricky Hatton was lambasted for being protected and so on...and he was a pro for about 7 years and was 38 fights in when he fought Tsyzu. Pavlik will be 34 or 35 fights into a career pushing 9 years before any fight with Calzaghe could happen.

If he is too green to do so, then when would he ever be ready? He is mixing in world class now, beating Taylor and Miranda deserves true respect and he has the true fighters attitude of wanting to test himself.
He would be dismantled IMO because Calzaghe is better in every area bar power.

You can thank Bush for that. With the economy all fukked up many peeps are lying low until that clown is outta office. :yep
IMHO, Had the fight been 3-4 years back, the joint would've been packed. It's all about timing. Maybe cheaper tickets would have helped considering..

Expect to see Hopkins close the show in the 10th round with Joe on the ropes helpless as a kitten. The ref will pull Hopkins off of Joe and wave the fight off.

BTW: You read Hopkins interview where he said Joe had no choice but to take the fight due to the 3 fight contract obligation. Last fight being in the US and Hopkins beating both Winky and Tarver, there was no one else for Joe to fight. Sounds reasonable to me. :good

No he doesn't. Kelly has excellent workrate and very good power. He has a decent jab. Enough tools to be a world champion and be in the top tier of a division. Not enough to beat elite fighters.

He is WIDE open when he attacks and his shots are both telegraphed and not very fast. He has a poor defence, is flat footed and cannot vary his attack. He has no disguised shots, no change to how he fights, it is jab jab, 1-2.

He does it well and he is a very good fighter, but he has no way near the hand speed of a Kessler and is so open that he would be picked apart by Calzaghe or Kessler.

He would be bleeding from the nose and mouth by the 3rd round and take a sustained 12 round beating from Calzaghe and would be stopped around 7-8 by Kessler.

No he doesn't. This will represent his biggest payday and it's against a 43 year old fighter(Although he doesn't fight like one). Calzaghe is a 3-1 favorite. You would have to be an idiot to turn down a career high payday against a guy who is viewed as such a large underdog. I'm not saying Calzaghe doesn't have balls, but fighting Hopkins doesn't change anything in regards to his courage.

Very true. That was the most hurt he has ever been. That said, Mitchell could bang and Calzaghe not only walked into a full swing but was turning into it. He was in one of those fights again where he was too confident and too lax, he turned his head into a haymaker and it landed bang on the point of the chin....

A HUGE shot. He stupidly got up at about the count of 4, when he should have taken a knee for longer....but came through.

Because he has beaten Eubank, Woodhall, Reid, Lacy and Kessler. And the notion that the US is the best for competition is stupid. It is totally dependent on what the division is. If Wlad beat everyone he has in Germany would you say he was being protected from the real heavys of the USA?

Of course not. Super Middle has not had that many big US names in recent years, with RJJ moving up before a fight with Calzaghe was even probable.
To make it clear, RJJ would have whooped Calzaghe, but nobody else would have done and he fought the big US star in Lacy and people can use hindsight all they want, he was supposed to destroy the Euro bum, because people had never seen Joe fight.

Same again, when he beats Hopkins you will all say Hopkins was shot and talk about how either Pavlik or Dawson will kill him. Which is quite funny given their resumes in comparison to Calzaghes.

It was just a flash knockdown,he was never unsteady on his legs.

If your unsteady on your legs, you dont go and pummell the guy for 60 seconds STRAIGHT after and stop the fight.

    Am i right??

****!! My credit Calz thread is backfiring big time!! We've got dudes in here arguing over Pavlik and all kinds of ****. I just wanted to say good on Joe, but it's not working.

So please with all due respect to all (esp. good long time posters IE BigReg etc.) either give Joe some credit or STFU!!:yep

    Thank you.

At the weigh in Bernard went forward and Joe pushed him back with his head.Joe looks very confidant.Bernard looks unusually subdued.
